Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus, 23.1.1992) Miley Ray Cyrus is an American actress and singer, best known for appearing as Miley Stewart / Hannah Montana in the Disney series, Hannah Montana. Her father is Billy Ray Cyrus.

Net worth: Miley Cyrus has earnings of $36 million (Forbes 2014)

Childhood: Miley was born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee. Her father is the country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus and her mother is Leticia. Miley has a younger brother, Braison and a younger sister, Noah (who is also an actress). She also has two half-brothers, Trace and Christopher Cody as well as a half-sister Brandi.

'Miley' is not her birth name, but a nickname, given to her by father because she was always smiling as a child. Miley originally attended Heritage Middle School but now has a private tutor, so that she can keep up with her studies whilst pursuing her career. Miley first showed an interest in acting aged nine, whilst the family was living in Canada. She first appeared on screen as a guest star in her father's TV show, Doc.

Career: Miley Cyrus' first film role was credited to her birth name, Destiny Cyrus. She appeared alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Ewan McGregor in Tim Burton's Big Fish, as 'Young Ruthie', in 2003. Aged 12, Cyrus auditioned for the lead role in Disney's Hannah Montana but the casting directors decided that she was too small. However, Miley was so persistent that she wanted the role, that Disney gave her a callback. Gary Marsh, a Disney Channel Executive described Miley as having the "everyday relatability of Hillary Duff and the stage presence of Shania Twain."

Miley eventually gained the lead role, playing Miley Stewart. Hannah Montana is Stewart's pop star alter ego. Cyrus also briefly appeared in the film High School Musical 2. Her role was officially credited as 'Girl At Pool'. She appears at the end of the film, dancing by the poolside. At the 80th Academy Awards, Cyrus was asked to present the song from Enchanted, 'That's How You Know.'

In April 2008, she appeared on Idol Gives Back, a fundraising offshoot of the hugely popular American Idol show. In 2006, Disney released a soundtrack to the Hannah Montana series, with Cyrus performing on the album. The singer has also signed a four-album deal with Hollywood Records; a separate deal to the soundtrack releases. Miley toured with The Cheetah Girls, opening the show for 20 dates of the tour of 39 cities.

Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus was released in 2007. The double-disc album was half Hannah Montana soundtrack songs and completed by a disc of songs largely written by Cyrus herself, credited to Destiny Hope Cyrus. In the Best Of Both Worlds Tour, later that year, she performed both as herself and in the Hannah Montana character.

A Disney 3-D Digital film of the tour was released and grossed $31,117,834 in its opening weekend. In 2008, a series of semi-naked shots of Miley leaked which appeared to dramatically increase her sales, and in 2009 she was named youngest artist to have had four number one albums. 2008 also saw her release her second studio album 'Breakout' which was later certified Platinum. The lead single was '7 Things'. That year she voiced Penny in the animated movie 'Bolt'.

In 2009, she appeared in 'Hannah Montana: The Movie', the soundtrack for which featured her top 40 hit 'The Climb'. That year she also featured on the Stand Up to Cancer campaign single 'Just Stand Up!'. Miley's next album was 'The Time of Our Lives' which she promoted with her Wonder World Tour.

She even performed for the Queen of England at the Royal Variety Performance. In 2009, she appeared in the poorly reviewed romance movie 'The Last Song' opposite Liam Hemsworth. The following year saw the release of her third album 'Can't Be Tamed', before Miley announced she wanted to take a break. She appeared in 'LOL' opposite Demi Moore in 2012 which was another flop, as was comedy 'So Undercover'.

In 2013, following a drastic change in image, she released her album 'Bangerz' featuring the hits 'We Can't Stop' and number one 'Wrecking Ball'. She promoted the record with a world tour (which was interrupted by an unexpected hospital stay) during which she shocked many attendees with her revealing outfits and racy conduct on stage. She subsequently appeared on a variety of songs from other musicians including Snoop Lion's 'Ashtrays and Heartbreaks', will.i.am's 'Fall Down' and Lil Twist's 'Twerk'. 2013 also saw her play a successful acoustic show for MTV Unplugged which became their highest rated episode.

Personal life: Miley Cyrus dated Nick Jonas for just over a year between 2006 and 2007, and had a relationship with Justin Gaston in 2009. That year she began dating actor Liam Hemsworth who she became engaged to in 2012. The following year, however, it was announced that they had split.

Miley caused quite a stir in 2012 when she decided to cut her long hair into a pixie crop. The move was the start of a series of controversial antics that the singer embarked on to cement herself as more of an adult artist. She was born with a heart problem called tachycardia, relating to an abnormally fast heart rate.

She was hospitalised in 2014 after suffering an allergic reaction to some medication she was taking for a sinus infection. Miley is a Christian and a strong supporter of LGBT rights. She is open about her use of the drug cannabis and even caused controversy by lighting up a joint on her way to accept an award at an awards ceremony in the Netherlands.

Boris Johnson and his cabinet dropped the ball altogether over Afghanistan, failed to predict fuel shortages at forecourts and did little to allay fears that everything would be fine by Christmas as he desperately reshuffled his cabinet. As he continued his long running spat with Kanye West, Drake released his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy and Lana Del Rey quite all social media platforms citing other "jobs", "privacy and transparency". Happy 4th of July one and all; it's the most patriarchal day of the year for Americans and, while that might divide opinions due to the colonialist history of the holiday, America is certainly a nation worth singing about.

Cyrus confirmed to Howard Stern that she had been involved in filming 'Black Mirror'.

It’s been a while since Miley Cyrus has graced our TV screens, but the star has confirmed that she’ll be making a comeback on the upcoming series of ‘Black Mirror’.

The American singer, and former long-time ‘Hannah Montana’ star, spoke to Howard Stern on his radio show this week, and implied that she had been away in South Africa filming her guest part in the dystopian anthology series when wildfires destroyed her home in Malibu, California last month.

“If you guess it, then I will shake my head 'yes',” Cyrus replied when Stern asked if it was indeed ‘Black Mirror’. She also said that there were “a lot of different sides” to her character, and that the experience represented “the first time I've left somewhere feeling really proud of my work”.
