Holly Humberstone - Scarlett Music Video

  • 08 September 2021

Holly Humberstone steals an articulated lorry from an aircraft hanger and hurtles down the runway in the video for her latest single, 'Scarlett'. The BBC Sound Of 2021 short listed artist spray paints the lorry before hopping on the back as Scarlett takes to the cab to drive her away.

'Scarlett' is Holly's fourth single this year following on from 'Haunted House' in April, 'The Walls Are Way Too Thin' in May and more recently, 'Please Don't Leave Just Yet' released in early August. All four tracks will appear on Holly's forthcoming EP, also titled 'The Walls Are Way Too Thin', together with two new songs, 'Thursday' and 'Friendly Fire'. The EP, her biggest collection of songs since she released her six track EP 'Falling Asleep At The Wheel' just over a year ago, is set to drop on November 5th.

Speaking about her latest song Holly said, "This track is my absolute fav, it’s a f**k you to the guy that was going out with my bestie Scarlett and was written as they were breaking up. The relationship was totally one sided Scarlett was all in & had pretty much planned their future & it was pretty clear to me that he was stringing her along until breaking up with her in a really insensitive and heartless way. I was her closest confidant and so I knew everything she was feeling, and i'd see how passive he was with her at parties first hand. She vented to me for probably about a year and so I went through all the stages of a break up with her and watched as she slowly realised her worth and that he wasn’t worth her tears anymore. I wanted to write this one from her point of view. It’s a pretty positive song as it’s about her finally letting go, realising his many faults and taking back her life."

Humberstone added that "I rly love the video for this track too, obviously the song is about Scarlett so she had to be in the video - especially after being named an ‘emotional grim reaper’ lol. It was honestly the most fun and so jokes. I was clinging on as I was being thrown about. I really hope it feels as empowering to watch as it did to be on the back of it performing!! Hopefully u enjoy it."
