Röyksopp, Alison Goldfrapp - Impossible Video

  • 03 February 2022

Ahead of the release of their forthcoming album, 'Profound Mysteries', Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp have hooked up with Alison Goldfrapp for their collaborative single - 'Impossible'. 'Impossible' is one of the ten tracks to feature on Röyksopp's latest album which is set for release on April 29th. The duos first full length follow up to 2014's, 'The Inevitable End', also contains their previous singles, 'The Ladder', and '(Nothing But) Ashes', both of which were released within days of each other in January this year. Speaking about their latest work the duo said, "As human beings, what we don’t know vastly overshadows what we do know. As teenagers, we would discuss our own fascination and preoccupation with the infinite and the impossible – the most profound mysteries of life".

Röyksopp's first album in eight years was not entirely expected as they'd alluded to the fact that 'The Inevitable End' would be their fifth and final album. News of their new project started to circulate when the band set up a new social media account and started teasing snippets of new material via Instagram. An announcement on December 31st confirmed that their sixth album would be released in 2022.

Alison Goldfrapp has also been largely absent from the music scene since she last released the Goldfrapp album - 'Silver Eye' in July 2018. The combination of Röyksopp's pumped up electro soundtrack and Alison Goldfrapp's silkly smooth vocals works a treat on their latest single. The 6m27s track is an electronic delight with woozy synth notes scoring AG's sultry delivery.

The visuals to accompany Röyksopp and Alison Goldfrapp's new track were created by Australian artist Jonathan Zawada (Dua Lipa/Flume) and show a steadily morphing series of shapes and colours that combine perfectly with the song.
