J Balvin, Ed Sheeran - Sigue Music Video

  • 29 March 2022

'Sigue', the first of two tracks to be released consecutively by Ed Sheeran and J Balvin is the product of a chance meeting and a mutual respect. After Ed Sheeran and J Balvin met in the early hours of one morning at a New York gym an unlikely partnership was born. Sheeran says that - "It was just me and him very early in the morning. I recognised his voice when he was on the phone so I just went up and said hi. We chatted so long we ended up having lunch and then afternoon tea. Then just went to being mates who chatted non stop."

The fruitful meeting eventually lead to both Sheeran and Balvin sharing studio time together where they worked on their first two tracks - 'Sigue' and 'Forever My Love'.

Sheeran says that - "He wanted to bring me into his world, and I wanted to bring him into mine. [It] Was a proper challenge learning Spanish for this and I had so much fun doing it".

Columbian superstar Balvin (The "Prince of Reggaeton") , who's had huge hits with 'Mi Gente', 'Ginza', 'Bobo', 'Safari', 'Machika', 'La Canción' and 'In Da Getto', has collaborated with a plethora of artists in the past including Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The Black Eyed Peas, Cardi B, Dua Lipa and Major Lazer. 'Sigue' and 'Forever My Love' are the first collaborative tracks from Sheeran and Balvin and both will bring each artist to a new audience.

Already this year serial collaborator Sheeran has hooked up with his old Friend Taylor Swift on their number two single 'The Joker And The Queen', with Fireboy DML on their number two single 'Peru' and more recently with Camila Cabello on their top 20 track - 'Bam Bam'.

If all of that collaborating hadn't kept the '=' artist busy enough this year Ed has also agreed to take part in the 'The Concert for Ukraine', organised by ITV, Livewire Pictures and the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

On Tuesday 28 March Sheeran will join a whole host of artists including Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers, Anne Marie, Becky Hill and Paloma Faith in an event which ITV have said will - "will bring together huge names in music to spread a message of hope while the conflict in Europe continues".
