Lizzo Insists She Can Only Be 'cancelled By God' And Vows To Continue Speaking Out

Lizzo thinks she can "only be cancelled by God".

The 36-year-old pop star has endured a considerable amount of public scrutiny in recent years for various reasons but claimed that she will continue to discuss things that are "important" to her and that only a higher power can decide her fate.

Speaking as part of a panel at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit, she said: "I've been cancelled for everything at this point. Only God can cancel me now. I think that I talk about the things that are important to me, and I talk about the things that I can bring a difference to, and I think those are my boundaries now with the public."

Just over a year ago, the 'About Damn Time' hitmaker was accused of creating an "abusive work environment" and she was eventually sued by some of her former backing dancers who claimed that they had been "sexually harassed and weight-shamed" during their time of employment.

In December, Lizzo's team filed a motion to dismiss the case and the lawsuit was put on hold three months later.

The 'Juice' singer - whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson - has always denied the claims, and took to social media when the news first broke to insist that the whole situation was so "outrageous" that she had to speak out about it.

She wrote on Instagram: "These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.

These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.
