Elite: Dangerous Is Coming To Xbox One And PS4, Probably

Elite: Dangerous Xbox One/PS4 is a real possibility

Elite: Dangerous has raised many eyebrows over the past few months, mainly due to an incredibly promising scope and a hefty £100 beta price tag. But Frontier chief David Brabe has probably won back a few friends with his non-announcement that the sci-fi epic will be hitting consoles.

We say non-announcement because Brabe himself was keen for it not to be an official unveiling. "I've just got to watch out," he smiled as he talked to Eurogamer. "I don't want to do something that constitutes an announcement, but we would be stupid not to support other platforms, including console."

New World Record: Someone Completed Super Mario Bros. In 4:57.69

By Jack de Aguilar in Movies / TV / Theatre on 27 June 2014

Mario XBOX

Can you do it quicker? Don't try. You can't.

While many gamers bemoan paying $60 for an 8-hour campaign with modern AAA titles, there’s a lot of fun to be had with speed runs. ‘Blubbler’ has mastered the art, clocking his record breaking Mario Bros. run at 4:57.69.

That’s a new world record, by around a second. 4:58.09 was the previous best. And it’s hard to see how anyone can better this speed; every time is perfectly timed; every shortcut is used and every enemy is either expertly squashed or avoided.

'Sniper Elite 3' Arrives To Positive Reviews; Positive, Not Glowing

By Jack de Aguilar in Movies / TV / Theatre on 26 June 2014

Sniper Elite 3 is an improvement on V2 - but by how much?

Sniper Elite V2 had its problems, but the seemingly never-repetitive killcam, which gruesomely detailed entry wounds in painful slow motion, giving us a comprehensive look at ever bone break and skin laceration suffered, would – rather cheaply – remain the game’s strongest appeal.

Of course, that killcam is back, and with a new African setting and an open-world map, Sniper Elite 3 looks to build upon V2’s limited success with a new chapter in the Sniper Universe. But what do the critics think?

Why Xbox One Users Will Need To Install A 10GB Day-One Patch For Sniper Elite 3

By Jack de Aguilar in Videogames / Gaming on 23 June 2014

XBOX

How quickly can you download 10GB?

XBOX One gamers looking forward to Sniper Elite 3 be warned: the game requires a mammoth 10GB first day patch, which replaces some of the mandatory install size.

The install size for the World War II sniper game, which is set in Africa, stood just under 20GB, but the day one patch will replace 14GB of it.

PlayStation Now’s Pricing Needs To Change If It Is To Succeed

By Joe DeAndrea in Videogames / Gaming on 23 June 2014

XBOX

The prices for PlayStation Now's beta have been revealed. Are they acceptable, or completely ridiculous?

Ever since the announcement back in 2012 that Sony would be acquiring Gaikai, a streaming service for video games, for $380 million, many anticipated how it would be implemented in the future for PlayStation products. When that service was revealed this past January as PlayStation Now, it finally offered a response to the PlayStation 4’s lack of backwards compatibility. PlayStation Now allows for the streaming of games that can be rented on PlayStation 4, 3, Vita, televisions, and mobile devices, and it’s been in a closed beta phase since January and will turn into an open beta in late July.

First released in 2002, the ‘Ratchet & Clank’ game franchise was essential in the growth of PlayStation 2 as it was one of the system’s highest selling titles exclusive to the console. Though over ten years old, the games are still being produced pretty often. Overall, there’s been nearly ten R&C titles with the most recent released in 2013, which was also the first year that the movie was said to be in development. Set for release sometime in 2015, the ‘Ratchet & Clank’ movie is shaping up to be as good as it was from the day it was announced. Director Kevin Munroe is manning the project, and he’s probably best known for his direction of ‘TMNT’ back in 2007. Additionally, Munroe is directing the film adaptation of another PlayStation 2 title, ‘Sly Cooper.’

How's That? 'Diablo III Reaper Of Souls' And 'The Last Of Us' Combine

By Jack de Aguilar in Movies / TV / Theatre on 11 June 2014

XBOX

Two of our favourite games of 2013 are getting into bed together

Well, this is one of the more unexpected game mash-ups we could’ve imagined, but now it’s here, we can’t imagine a world without it. The Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls, will feature a special Last of themed dungeon, full of clickers, stalkers and bloaters. Oh, and it’s for PS3/PS4 owners only. Sorry.

BioWare Edmonton and Montreal boss Aaryn Flynn has opened up to Eurogamer on how he and his team are going to handle this, suggesting the new adventure will reference the three outstanding games that precede it, but we still don’t know exactly where or when the new game will be set.

Whoops: 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' E3 Trailer Released, Then Taken Down

By Jack de Aguilar in Videogames / Gaming on 09 June 2014

Kiefer Sutherland XBOX

So, the trailer's gone down, but we've got some gifs below.

E3 kicks off imminently but Konami got their time zones mixed up - probably - and unleashed the trailer for their highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain early, sending the Internet into overdrive, and then back into… underdrive when they took it down quick-smart. Somewhere, someone is getting told off for this right now.

But the World Wide Web isn’t short of savvy users, so even though Konami plan on re-unleashing their all-action trailer shortly, there’s no end of information littered around various website. So here’s what you should know; here’s what we've seen, and what you’ll see later on.

FIFA 15 On PC Will Be Playing Catchup No More - Ignite Engine And System Requirements

By Jack de Aguilar in Movies / TV / Theatre on 06 June 2014

FIFA 15 is finally set to make a visual impact on PC

FIFA has always been a slightly less enjoyable prospect for PC owners; keyboard controls are great for FPS games but not so good for sports titles, unless you hook up a 360 pad. But the main gripe for non-console FIFA fans, though, is that is falls short graphically, despite the huge potential for gaming PCs to make games looks their absolute best.

Well this looks like it’s going to change for the upcoming iteration of the long-running football franchise. The PC version of FIFA 15 uses the EA Sports Ignite engine, which was announced last year as the power behind all EA Sports games on PlayStation 4 and XBOX One. "The PC version will include all the same core features coming to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game," EA said.
