Jeff Goldblum Surprises London Commuters With Impromptu Jazz Piano Performance

By Ed Biggs in Music / Festivals on 06 September 2018

Goldblum rocked up at the piano on St. Pancras' railway station concourse on Wednesday morning to give commuters a treat.

London commuters were treated to an impromptu piano performance from none other than Hollywood star Jeff Goldblum, as he gears up for the release of his first album.

Ahead of his appearance at the GQ Awards in London on Wednesday (September 5th), Goldblum decided to use the personal touch to promote his forthcoming jazz album, The Capital Studio Sessions, planting himself at Sir Elton John’s piano on the main concourse of London’s St. Pancras railway station and playing a selection of numbers from the record.

As ever, Goldblum used his legendary geniality to engage in some good-natured banter with the large crowd that had quickly assembled. “I always like playing out and about,” he said as he tinkled the ivories. “You never know who you’re going meet. And music soothes the savage breast! Or is it beast?”

65 year old Goldblum has signed a deal with Decca to release a jazz piano album by the end of the year.

Movie star Jeff Goldblum is to release a jazz piano album later this year, having signed his first record deal at the age of 65.

The former Jurassic Park and Independence Day actor has inked a record deal with Decca, whose executives spotted him playing the piano with singer Gregory Porter on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ last year. It turned out that Goldblum, aside from his movie career, was a talented jazz pianist who has played since he was a child, entertaining in cocktail lounges in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when he was just 15.

Jeff Goldblum On Ian Malcolm's Motives In 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 21 April 2018

Jeff Goldblum

'Lost In Space' hasn't been renewed for a second season, but the co-creators have plenty of ideas if it does get the green light.

Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) may be a fan-favourite character from the 'Jurassic Park' series, but he's somebody who'll be arguing against the rescue mission for the dinosaurs in upcoming movie 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'. When Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) decide to go back to Isla Nubar following news that the dormant volcano on the island is to erupt and wipe out the prehistoric creatures once more, chaos of course ensues.

Though the iconic doctor will likely clash with the two, we know they'll be successful in gaining permission to go back to the island, so will that be the end of Malcolm's role in the movie? That's actually pretty likely, as Goldblum confirmed in previous months that he'd only be in a small part of the film.

Jeff Goldblum Reveals Ian Malcolm Was Almost Cut From 'Jurassic Park'

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 31 March 2018

Jeff Goldblum

'Jurassic Park' star Jeff Goldblum has opened up about how he had to fight to keep Ian Malcolm in the original film.

Jeff Goldblum may be making a comeback to the 'Jurassic Park' franchise in 'Jurassic World 2', bringing the Dr. Ian Malcolm character back to the big screen for the first time in two decades, but it wasn't always going to be the case. In fact, there was a point in which the original film's director Steven Spielberg almost wrote out the character entirely.

Despite Malcolm not being the lead character in the first movie - that was something left for Sam Neill's Alan Grant - he was still an instant hit with fans, becoming a firm favourite and sizzling in a shirtless scene that's gone down in cinematic history. Those behind-the-scenes however weren't always convinced he should be around.

The actor does however say he hopes his character makes "some impact!"

Having starred in the first two films in the original 'Jurassic Park' series, Jeff Goldblum will be making his return to the franchise in 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'. As the sequel to the hugely successful 'Jurassic World' which was released in 2015, the movie will see Goldblum revive his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm alongside new series regulars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The first 'Jurassic World' went on to take an incredible $1.6 billion across the globe, proving that the franchise was successful enough on its own without all of its original stars being forced to jump back on board. Of course, the inclusion of Goldblum will only help the box office takings when the film makes its debut next year.

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Very Good

The most riotously enjoyable Marvel movie yet, this action epic benefits hugely from the decision to let wacky New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi loose with the characters. In many ways, this film has the same comical sensibilities as his classics What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Except on a much larger scale with massive special effects. Yet even with all this action, there's not a moment of actual suspense, which is a growing problem in a movie universe in which the characters need to survive unscathed.

Ragnarok is a prophecy about the end of time, specifically the death of King Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and the destruction of Asgard. And it has just been triggered, stopping Odin's sons Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in their tracks with the news that they have an older sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), the self-proclaimed goddess of death. As she brutally asserts her claim to the throne, the brothers find themselves dumped on the planet Sakaar. Loki mischievously worms his way into the favour of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who sends Thor into the coliseum to fight the champion, namely his old friend Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). As Thor convinces Hulk's alter-ego David Banner to return with him to Asgard to stop Hela, he also needs Asgard's last Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a tetchy warrior who is reluctant to work with him.

Jeff Goldblum Teases His Return To 'Jurassic Park' Franchise

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 24 October 2017

Jeff Goldblum

The sequel to 'Jurassic World' is set for release in June, 2018.

When the original 'Jurassic Park' trilogy came to fans of the franchise, they fell in love with the story being told on the big screen, as well as the flurry of talented actors taking on the leading roles. Jeff Goldblum was one of those actors, stepping into the shoes of Dr. Ian Malcolm in the first two films, and now it's been confirmed that he'll return for upcoming release 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'.

Image caption Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'

Serving as the sequel to 2015's 'Jurassic World', the film will also see that movie's leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard make their comebacks as Owen and Claire. Colin Trevorrow won't be serving as director this time round however, with J. A. Bayona instead sitting in the director's chair.

Isle Of Dogs Trailer

Imagine a world without dogs. It hardly bears thinking about, but in this dystopian look at Japan twenty years into the future, all canines have been banned from society after a bout of a dangerous illness called canine flu. Rather than being euthanised, the pooches are being quarantined and moved to Trash Island where they are left to fend for themselves. One group of four-legged friends includes Chief (Bryan Cranston), Rex (Edward Norton), Boss (Bill Murray), Duke (Jeff Goldblum) and King (Bob Balaban), and they are seriously missing life amongst humankind - not to mention food that isn't mouldy and maggot-infested.

Then one day, a young boy named Atari Kobayashi (Koyu Rankin) shows up on the island with a stolen Junior-Turbo Prop XJ750 aircraft searching for his own long lost pet, Spots. It doesn't take him long to win the trust of the island's residents, who agree to help him search for the dog. Of course, back home, he is noticeably missing and his family inform the authorities. Soon they arrive at the island preparing to take him home, but Atari doesn't want to leave without Spots - and his newfound friends won't let him either. As Atari's search takes them further afield, it becomes clear that there is a much darker conspiracy happening in the nation - and that his dog may be being held prisoner somewhere.

The Oscar nominated Wes Anderson ('The Grand Budapest Hotel', 'Fantastic Mr. Fox', 'The Darjeeling Limited') returns as the director and writer of a new stop-motion animation 'Isle of Dogs'. His previous collaborators Kunichi Nomura, and Roman Coppola and Jason Schwartzman ('Mozart in the Jungle') also helped write the story. The film, which features an all-star cast, was originally teased by the filmmaker back in December 2016 when he unveiled the briefest of clips from the movie showing Edward Norton's character Rex.
