Mirren was speaking in a new interview with 'i' magazine.
In a frank and revealing interview, screen and stage legend Dame Helen Mirren has spoken about confronting and accepting death.
Speaking with i magazine on Thursday (April 12th), Mirren, now aged 72 and with a massive career behind her but still active and working, spoke about the necessity of thinking about death as one gets older, saying that it’s not to be feared and is “as much a part of life as anything else”.
“We are all headed in that direction, sorry to tell you! It's gonna happen. So one might as well confront it, and what better time to confront it than the latter part of your life?” she said.

Mirren, despite being the brand ambassador for 'L'Oreal Paris, cast doubt on whether moisturiser actually does anything.
Dame Helen Mirren has voiced doubts about whether skin moisturisers aimed women actually make any different at all, saying the product “probably does f**k all” – despite being the brand ambassador for beauty company L’Oreal Paris.
The 72 year old star is frequently praised for how good she looks at her age, and that was partly the reason that L’Oreal concluded a deal with her to become their brand ambassador back in 2014. However, though she’s dedicated to using their products because she loves how they feel, she voiced concerns this week about whether they actually do anything.
“I’m not setting standards for others. All I can do is be who I am. I’ve always loved make-up,” she told the audience during a L’Oreal panel discussion, held in Cannes, France this week, according to Campaign magazine.

But Letty refuses to lose faith in him because she's sure there must be something more going on, though she doesn't know what yet. She re-teams with Tej Parker and Hobbs and this time they got a tank. Unfortunately for Hobbs, the only way they can take on Dom and his new girlfriend is by enlisting the help of his criminal nemesis Deckard Shaw.

The 70 year old actress has spoken about the sexism and ageism still present in the movie business.
Dame Helen Mirren has spoken out about the “profound sexism” still present in Hollywood today, which prevents older women from scoring more movie roles. The 70 year old actress added that she believes roles for women in movies would not change until the roles for women in real life also shifted.
When asked by The Guardian if the acting industry less accepting of older women, Mirren said, “There is profound sexism – the ‘Would you fuck her?’ kind of attitude. On the cinema screen, your face is 10ft high and 6ft wide. It’s huge.”

'Dalton Trumbo had gone from novelist to a successful career as a Hollywood screenwriter which saw him become one of the town's highest paid writers and even earn an Academy Award nomination. But his bright career came to a crushing end in 1947 after he was one of nine people who refused to testify in front of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. This led to Trumbo being blacklisted from Hollywood and effectively ending his movie career. But despite being blacklisted Trumbo refused to give up and instead continued to write, often under pseudonyms, working on films such as Oscar winner Roman Holiday. His fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses over his freedom to write and work entangled everyone in Hollywood from gossip writer Hedda Hopper to Kirk Douglas who would call on Trumbo to pen the scrip for his epic drama 'Spartacus' and help bring about the end of the Hollywood blacklist.

Describing a camping trip with Liam Neeson, the Hollywood actress used the phrase "pissing with rain", much to the upset of her interviewers that rushed to apologise on her behalf.
The 70-year-old actress looked like she had shocked herself and went on to apologise before rewording her sentence: "It rained a lot."
