Original Ghostface Mask Coming To 'Scream' Season 3

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 19 September 2017

Queen Latifah

The series is taking one of the most major elements from the original franchise.

Going through a complete reboot with its upcoming third season, MTV's horror TV series 'Scream' may be attempting to gain scores of new fans one last time before it's left behind for good. Receiving a lukewarm response to its first two seasons on the channel - the first of which hadn't even wrapped before 'Scream' creator and executive producer of the series Wes Craven sadly passed away - something major needed to happen if the show was to find any kind of success moving forward.

Queen Latifah is working on season 3's creative team

Rebooting the show may be that exact thing, with an all new setting, characters and behind-the-scenes team working on making it a must-watch. Brett Matthews is now serving as showrunner on the series, with RJ Cyler, Jessica Sula, Keke Palmer, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Giullian Yao Gioiello fleshing out the cast. Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty have all also joined the executive producing team for Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Girls Trip Review

Very Good

This movie's premise basically sounds like The Hangover with added black girl power. But it's actually a lot more than that, with themes and ideas that emerge across the board. Although what audiences will remember are the more raucous comedic moments, which gleefully dive headlong into full-on vulgarity to keep the audience laughing all the way through to the big finale. And this will also be forever remembered as the movie that made The Carmichael Show's Tiffany Haddish a star.

She plays Dina, the sassy, hard-partying member of the Flossy Posse, a group of four friends from university 25 years ago. The others are superstar self-help guru Ryan (Regina Hall), notorious gossip blogger Sasha (Queen Latifah) and workaholic single mother Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith). Worrying that their friendship is fading away with time, Ryan proposes a reunion to travel to EssenceFest in New Orleans, where she's giving the keynote speech. So off they go to let their hair down and escape their responsible lives. But Sasha has just received a paparazzi photo of Ryan's football-star husband Stewart (Mike Colter) snuggling up with an Instagram model, and Dina immediately wants revenge. On the other hand, Ryan is concerned about maintaining her public image.

There are two big themes here that fit in rather nicely with the crazed antics that pepper the movie with rude flashes of riotous hilarity. First of course is the importance of sometimes setting your chores aside and just having fun with your friends. But the deeper message is about the importance of living honestly instead of just pretending that everything is great. Ryan, Sasha and Lisa have to face these issues and deal deeply with how they live their lives. Meanwhile, Dina just keeps partying. But then, she's the film's relentless scene-stealer, and the audience wouldn't have it any other way.

22 Jump Street Review

By Rich Cline

Very Good

A consistently hilarious stream of in-jokes keeps the audience in fits of laughter even if there's virtually no plot to this follow-up to the 2012 hit 21 Jump Street. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum revive their amusing double-act to poke fun at sequels and franchises amid silly set-pieces and starry cameos. And it gives filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller their second terrific comedy of the year, after The Lego Movie.

![22 Jump Street](http://images.contactmusic.com/images/reviews2/22jumpstreet-fr-636.jpg )

Following their successful bust of a high school drug ring, undercover officers Schmidt and Jenko (Hill and Tatum) are assigned by their grumpy captain (Ice Cube) to infiltrate a university and track down who's dealing the new drug whyphy. But both get distracted by life on campus: Schmidt begins a romance with Maya (Amber Stevens), while Jenko finds his meathead soul-mate in football teammate Zook (Wyatt Russell). With their partnership in jeopardy, Schmidt and Jenko must refocus on a spring break trip to Mexico, where they discover an old nemesis (Peter Stormare) on the loose.

Using a non-stop series of gags about how follow-up movies are more expensive and less original, the filmmakers go about proving this hypothesis with amusingly overwrought sets and a chaotic, derivative narrative that has very little momentum. Meanwhile, they pack every moment of the film with witty humour that's played expertly by Hill and Tatum, who rekindle their chemistry with a steady barrage of gay double entendre that reveals the movie's true nature as a brom-com. On the other hand, neither the actors nor the filmmakers are willing to push things too far, so they settle for silly vulgarity instead of any black comedy or edgy humour.

Queen Latifah performed a flawless and pitch perfect rendition of 'America The Beautiful' at this Sunday's (Feb 2nd) Super Bowl game at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The multi-talented entertainer was joined by the children's choir 'New Jersey Youth Chorus' before the big game's kick-off.

The 43 year-old, who was accompanied by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell before she sang, wore a knee-length blue parka and a white turtleneck in an effort to not let the wintery conditions affect her performance.
