Two tracks from Amy Winehouse's posthumous release were aired to the public for the first time this week, being played on New York radio station Hot 97 . They're the first songs to be heard since the singer's death other than her duet of 'Body And Soul' with Tony Bennett - that track appearing on the latter's album 'Duets II'.
The first cut, aired yesterday, featured American rapper Nas and was titled 'Like Smoke', the second titled 'Our Day Will Come' was also played - they'll both appear on the album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' that's to be released on December 6th 2011, reports MTV.com. The album will feature twelve tracks including re-workings of existing songs, unreleased material and new songs. Recorded in 2008, 'Like Smoke' features a Motown beat with the London performer familiar in her rich, sultry jazz tone, allowing Nas to take charge on the verses. The track was produced by Salaam Remi, who has collaborated with Winehouse's other prominent producer - Mark Ronson - to put the forthcoming LP together.
'Our Day Will Come' meanwhile is a reggae-based take on a 1960s doo-wop tune originally made famous by Ruby & The Romantics. Speaking to the UK's Guardian newspaper, Winehouse's father Mitch Winehouse said, "It wasn't until I sat down with the rest of the family and listened to this album that I fully appreciated the breadth of Amy's talent, from jazz standards to hip-hop songs, it really took my breath away."
