Amy Winehouse was one of the most loved pop artists of her time, but also one of the most troubled. She produced a range of hits such as 'Rehab', 'You Know I'm No Good' and 'Back To Black' ahead of her untimely death at the age of just 27, when she was discovered in her home after a night of binge drinking in 2011. While music lovers revelled in her talent, others delighted in her troubles and were quick to attack her for her lifestyle as well as her relationships, with disastrous consequences. In a new documentary, her life before worldwide fame is explored; the innocence of her youth, her passion for making music and the blissful ignorance of the fate that fame and fortune would ultimately bring her.
'Amy' is the tragic forthcoming documentary telling the story of the rise and fall of Amy Winehouse. Directed by BAFTA winner Asif Kapadia ('Senna', 'The Warrior', 'Far North') and produced by James Gay-Rees ('The Quiet Ones', 'Blackball', 'Senna'), the film features previously unseen footage from the singer from her early music days. The film will be released in the UK on July 3rd 2015, just ahead of the fourth anniversary of the singer's death.
