We still have about three weeks to wait until The Amazing Spider-Man 2 finally hits the big screen but we’re already bursting with anticipation. The photos and trailers that have been gradually trickling through have really managed to whet our appetites!  We predict that this one is going to the best of all the spider-man movies that have been released over the past 12 years or so (sorry Tobey!), if only because Dane DeHaan’s green goblin looks absolutely freaking terrifying!  The chemistry between Garfield and Stone is always palpable when they’re in a scene together as well, it’s part of what gives the franchise its magic.

Although there’s still a while to wait, a few reviews have started to circulate the web (get it?!), we thought we’d gather them all up and see what they have to say. We’ll try and put a good spin on it!  We’re just firing out the spidey puns left, right and center today.

Simon Reynolds from Digital Spy praises Emma Stone, although is disappointed with the amount of screen time she gets. We would like to point out that we managed to get the impression of that just from watching the trailer! Very disappointing, we had really hoped that she would get a more substantial role in the full movie. Reynolds also picked up on the chemistry between Stone and Garfield, “Garfield and Stone’s chemistry is enough to paper over…cracks in the screenplay”. Eek, hopefully the cracks aren’t too noticeable!

The Daily Telegraph’s Tim Robey was impressed with Garfield, “he remains a rare combination of funny, sexy and awkwardly charming, nailing every part of Peter Parker’s clear agenda to be the coolest superhero ever.” Robey also noted that Garfield and Stone “light the film up with a sparkle and sadness it couldn’t live without.”  It seems as though these two may be really steal the show.

Oliver Lyttelton of The Playlist was disappointed with the general structure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, “It’s a film of many scenes, but not much structure, or many events, but no real plot.”

The reviews may have been mixed so far, but we predict that there will be many more great ones to come. If the trailer’s anything to go by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be packed with some killer special effects (even thinking about the shot of Spider-Man free falling through New York has us on the edge of our seats).
