The London Fashion Week Burberry show took its turn to impress the fashionistas yesterday (September 17th), and they certainly did a good job when it came to attracting stars to the front row of their catwalk. New Olympic and US Open tennis champion Andy Murray was joined by One Direction’s Harry Styles as well as designer Sir Jonathan Ive as the British label tried to put on a brave face following the shrinking of the company’s stock value by $1 billion last week. Burberry have been struggling in the Chinese markets, but there’s still plenty of other areas willing to buy into the brand, and the latest styles paraded in London suggested that their designers are still at the top of their game, in spite of outside economic forces. Described by designer Chris Bailey to the Daily Telegraph as "a little bit sassier, a little bit sexier, and a little bit more joyful", the new Burberry line saw numbers include a cream cloak worn over a saucy-for-Burberry satin basque, as well as a flesh-toned, fitted corset dress that had a noticeable Edwardian kick at the back of its hem and was worn beneath a dusky pink satin cloaklet. Burberry’s signature piece is the trench coat, and a range of them made their way down the catwalk, bright and colourful and in a range of styles from lace to satin varieties.
