Lansbury's reps have shot down recent reports that she would be making guest appearances in the next season of 'Game of Thrones'.
There was disappointment for TV fans today as representatives for the legendary British actress Angela Lansbury denied widely reported rumours that she was set to make a cameo appearance in the next series of ‘Game of Thrones’.
Speaking on behalf of the 90 year old former ‘Murder She Wrote’ star, a team of representatives told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (September 7th) that the reports, started by an article in German tabloid newspaper Bild last week, were not true.
Angela Lansbury will NOT be participating in 'Game of Thrones'
A translated version of the original story, published on August 31st, hinted at a “hot casting rumour” on the HBO favourite, and suggested that Lansbury would be the latest in a string of high-profile cameo appearances. It slated her for guest appearances on two episodes of the upcoming series, which would have required four days of filming.
Many fans had joked that it made complete sense for Lansbury’s character Jessica Fletcher to turn up in Westeros, considering it is the only place with a death rate anywhere near the size of ‘Murder She Wrote’.
Work is getting under way in Northern Ireland for the seventh, and penultimate, season of ‘Game of Thrones’. It will consist of only seven episodes, rather than the usual ten, and will be premiering roughly this time next year, rather than in April, because of filming requirements demanding the new series be set in the winter.
Lansbury, also famous for her roles in Bedknobs and Broomsticks and her voice role in Beauty & the Beast, was the latest British actor to be connected with ‘Game of Thrones’. Last week, it was announced that Jim Broadbent had secured a recurring guest role throughout the seventh season.
Previous guest stars have included Coldplay’s Will Champion, Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody, and Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson.
