The Pakistani teenager who was shot in the head by the Taliban for daring to speak out in favour of women’s right for education has had tribute paid to her by the Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. Speaking at the Women in the Wold Summit, Jolie introduced Malala – who survived the callous attack - by saying “Here's what they accomplished," speaking of her attackers. "They shot her point blank range in the head — and made her stronger. The brutal attempt to silence her voice made it stronger." The summit then watched a video of Malala, who now resides in Britain, where she was treated after the attack, Associated Press reports.

Jolie has donated $200,000 to the 15 year old’s fund to promote her cause, advocating women’s rights to education in Pakistan. Jolie is a fervent supporter of women’s education and is also involved in funding education for girls in Afganistan, as well. In her video, Malala said “Today I'm going to announce the happiest moment of my life." She went on to announce that a school would be built in her homeland for 40 girls. She added: "Let us turn the education of 40 girls into 40 million girls.”

Yousafzai recently signed a deal to write her memoirs and was shortlisted for Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2012. After the shooting, she was taken to Britain, where she received skull reconstruction and cochlear implant surgery.
