Angelina Jolie has revealed that she was "not bothered" by the insults she received during an email exchange between producer Scott Rudin and then Sony studio head Amy Pacal that was made public. The actress-turned-director has spoken about the incident for the first time while on the promotional trail for her latest film By The Sea.

Talking to the New York Times, the mother-of-five said she "didn’t read any of the emails" but had been told about their contents - which included calling her a "spoiled brat" - and wasn’t bothered by them.

Jolie said: "There are certain things that bother me and certain things that don’t.

Personal attacks on me? I think I’m just used to it."

When the Sony leaked email scandal broke, Pascal told the media that "Angie didn’t care".

However much Angelina didn’t care, the leak - that was brought to light in December 2014 and referenced two films, Cleopatra and the Steve Jobs biopic - cost Pascal her job.

Jolie, on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength and both stars in and directs By The Sea in which her husband, Brad Pitt, also features.

Speaking about that collaboration and the role of female directors in the industry, Jolie said: "Sometimes people in the business focus on the fact that you’re a minority.

"I don’t want people saying, ‘should we get a female director?’ I want to hear, ‘should we get a great director for this movie?’

"But I’m the first female director that Brad has ever worked with. That doesn’t seem right when you think about it."
