Anna Faris is an American actress and singer, best known for her comic roles.
Childhood: Anna Faris was born in Baltimore in Maryland, to Karen and Jack Faris. Her mother is an elementary school teacher and her father is a sociologist. Anna also has a brother, Robert and they were raised in Edmonds, Washington. Encouraged by her parents, Faris landed her first acting job at the age of nine, at the Seattle Repertory Theatre. She attended Edmonds Woodway High School, then studied English Literature at the University of Washington.
Acting Career: Anna Faris debut major film role was in Lovers Lane, an independent film released in 1999. Her breakthrough role, however, came with her role in Scary Movie, a parody of Scream. The film also starred Carmen Electra and Regina Hall. Faris died her hair black for the role in Scary Movie (and the sequel), so that she resembled Neve Campbell more closely. Following on from her newfound popularity, Anna Faris landed the role of Erica in Friends, Erica was the birth mother of Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Monica (Courtney Cox Arquette) Bing's child. Faris then went on to appear in Lost in Translation. The film was a critically acclaimed release, starring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray. Anna Faris then appeared Waiting. which also starred Ryan Reynolds and Justin Long. Faris was reunited on screen with Ryan Reynolds, in Just Friends. In 2005, Faris landed a role in the critically lauded Brokeback Mountain, a film which brought her to the attention of a much wider audience. Brokeback Mountain also starred the late Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Jake Gyllenhaal. The following year, Faris starred in My Super Ex-Girlfriend, with Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson, followed by an appearance in 2008's Young Americans, in which she played Topher Grace's twin sister. That same year, she also featured in Mama's Boy, which starred Jeff Daniels, Jon Heder and Diane Keaton and Smiley Face, with John Cho and Adam Brody. In 2007, Anna Faris starred in and produced The House Bunny. The film, about a retired Playboy bunny, featured Rumer Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) and Hugh Hefner. That summer, she also appeared in the popular HBO series, Entourage. In 2009, Faris worked with Seth Rogen on Observe and Report, a comedy by Jody Hill.
Personal Life: Anna Faris married the actor Ben Indra, in 2004. They had dated since 1999. In 2007, Faris filed for divorce. She then married another actor, Chris Pratt, in 2009.
