Chris Pratt Says He Isn't Impotent, He Just Didn't Know What The Word Meant

Chris Pratt Anna Faris

Chris Pratt has clarified what he meant when he used the word ‘impotent’ in an interview the other week when he spoke about being overweight – apparently, he didn’t know what the word meant!

The Hollywood superstar gave an interview to Men’s Health U.K. last week, in which he described his feelings about being overweight a few years ago before he slimmed down and rose to prominence. He claimed that he felt “depressed” and “impotent”, remarks that were inevitably seized upon and wound up all over social media.

Expanding upon what he meant to Access Hollywood on Tuesday (June 9th), Pratt laughed it off, saying “I'm not sure I knew what 'impotent' meant when I said it. I had a lower sex drive, to be honest with you. Everything about my spirit was dull. I didn't feel great, and I think people will relate to that.”

Oscar nominations were announced on Thursday and brought the usual flood of reactions, mainly because of notable snubs. Voters opened themselves to charges of both racism and sexism by ignoring black actors and female writers and directors. The biggest outcry was for Selma, which received a Best Picture nomination but nothing for its acclaimed cast or director Ava DuVernay.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Review

Very Good

With new writers and directors, this frenetic sequel indulges in silliness with less substance than last time. It's a lot of fun, but also rather forgettable, like the movie's surprisingly unimaginative title (honestly, the sky was literally the limit here). So while we laugh at the constant barrage of jokes and the colourful visual mayhem, there's nothing to engage us on a more satisfying level.

It opens with a recap of the first film, then carries on immediately, as young inventor Flint (voiced by Hader) is thrilled that his idol Chester (Forte), head of super-cool mega-company Live Corp, is put in charge of cleaning up the food storm Flint started. With a secret plan to get his hands on Flint's invention, Chester evacuates everyone from the island community Swallow Falls and offers Flint a job at his headquarters in San Franjose, California. But back home the food has come to life and is threatening to attack the world, so Flint is sent to solve the problem, unofficially accompanied by his pals (Faris' weathergirl, Samberg's surfer dude, Bratt's cameraman and Crews' muscle-cop) and his fisherman dad (Caan).

These characters are so hilariously goofy that we can't help but enjoy the chaos as they return to the island, which has been transformed into a Jurassic Park-style jungle overrun by food-pun creatures like shrimpanzees, tacodiles and watermelephants. The animation is gorgeously detailed, with all kinds of visual gags to match the deranged verbal banter. And the snappy voice cast dive in with gusto. The new characters fit in perfectly: Forte is hilariously slimy, while Schaal (as his talking baboon assistant Barb) steals the show as the only person on-screen who has a story arc.

'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2' Scoffs At US Box Office Competition

Bill Hader Neil Patrick Harris Anna Faris Andy Samberg

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, despite receiving mixed reviews, has gained over $34 million at the US weekend Box Office. The film was released on Friday (27th September), and received mixed, although generally positive reviews. Some critics described the film as "wildly cute" and "colourful" (Miriam Bale, New York Times), but many felt the film lack originality particularly the "the original film's intelligence" (Sean O'Connell, Washington Post).

Neil Patrick Harris provides the voice for Steve, Flint Lockwood's monkey.

However, such comments do not appear to have discouraged many from seeing the second instalment in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs franchise, quite the contrary as the film beat off its competition by at least $20 million. The other films in the Box Office are more equally spread, figures wise, with Prisoners (down from No.1 last week) and Rush (up from No.38) each gaining $10 million.

Review Round-Up: 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2'

Bill Hader Anna Faris Terry Crews

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the sequel to the successful children's animation, is due to be released in US cinemas today (27th September). Reviewers have been generally positive when considering the film is aimed at children, but fear parents may find the film dull and lacking in originality.

In the sequel to the animated film, things seem to be going well for scientist extraordinaire Flint Lockwood: he's working at The Live Corp Company for his idol Chester V and romance is still blossoming with meteorologist Sam Sparks. Lockwood, voiced by Bill Hader, and other exiled residents of Swallow Falls, are up against, instead of masses of food, food monsters created by Lockwood's machine.

'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2' Trailer Hints At Deliciousness [Trailer]

Anna Faris Bill Hader James Caan

The new Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 trailer has rolled out online, promising more of the same from Sony's surprise animated hit that appears to be on the verge of forming a franchise. The first film - featuring the voice of Bill Hader, Anna Faris and James Caan - won strong reviews on its way to securing $243 million worldwide.

The sequel continues right after the first film, with young inventor Flint and his friends forced to leave their home town. However, when the food machine awakens to produce living food beasts like living pickles, hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, and apple pie-thons, he must return to the save the world.

There's plenty to enjoy in the new trailer, particularly when the gang marvel at all the weird and wonderful new food monsters before coming across a tomato.that's.just a tomato. There's also the "leek in the boat" gang from the original trailer.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Trailer

Flint Lockwood is a genius inventor who previously caused chaos in his hometown when he invented the FLDSMDFR (Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator) which turned water into food and nearly caused a tornado of spaghetti and meatballs to destroy the town. Now he wants to go back to Swallow Falls with his friends including his weather intern best pal Sam Sparks, his father Tim and his pet monkey Steve, because the food monsters he created are learning to swim in order to cross oceans and take over the world. On arriving, they find that the abandoned town is now home to Spring Onion giraffes, Shrimp-anzees, fla-mangos. As beautiful as this new land is, they soon find themselves involved in a deadly chase hotly pursued by man (and monkey!) eating giant cheese burgers. Will Flint invent a solution to save the world this time round? Or are they facing Burgergeddon?

The sequel to the 2009 animated comedy 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' is now finally set to be released, this time directed by Cody Cameron ('Open Season 3') and Kris Pearn in his directorial debut and John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein ('Horrible Bosses', 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone') coming on board for the screenplay. It will hit cinemas in the UK on October 25th 2013.

I Give It A Year Review

Good

Not so much a rom-com as an anti-romance comedy, this brightly amusing British film makes us laugh fairly consistently, although the story itself is pretty grim. It's also a problem that the plot and characters are contrived and inconsistent. Even so, there's enough jaggedly hilarious humour in here to make it worth a look, complete with a superior cast that knows how to make the very most of even the smallest role.

The film opens with the lavish wedding of Josh and Nat (Spall and Byrne), although their friends and family not-so-secretly wonder if the marriage will last. Over the coming months, Josh's best mate Danny (Merchant) tries to distract them with inappropriate jokes, but the tension between relatives Naomi and Hugh (Driver and Flemyng) only reminds them how much work marriages require. After nine months, they begin seeing a therapist (Colman) who encourages them to try to make it to their first anniversary. But Josh is thinking about rekindling romance with an ex (Faris), while Nat is falling for the charms of a sexy client (Baker).

Essentially a collection of comedy set-pieces, the plot lurches around in search of ways to lampoon relationships, often in the rudest way possible as people say the worst things at the wrong times. Along the way there are some hilarious sequences, such as a humiliating game of charades or a ridiculous attempt at a threesome. Each set-up is are seized upon by expert improvisors like Merchant and Key (as a pessimistic insurance salesman). And the funniest moments in the film belong to Colman, who makes the most of every scene-stealing opportunity, and Driver, who expertly delivers a constant stream of withering insults.

Movie 43 Review

Weak

A collection of random shorts that focus mainly on idiotic male behaviour, this portmanteau comedy is only occasionally amusing, never making anything of its astonishing cast. Frankly, we spend most of the time wondering how the filmmakers lured these A-listers to appear in these pointless, nasty little films. And while the premises have potential, not a single one has a decent punchline.

As a prank, two teens make up a banned online film called Movie 43. While their brainly little brother searches for it, he runs across a series of clips that mainly focus on awkward vulgarity between the sexes. Bitter exes (Culkin and Stone) have a rude exchange that's broadcast on a supermarket sound system. Pratt is shocked when his girlfriend (Faris) asks him to "poop" on her, and agrees because he loves her. Parents (Watts and Schreiber) homeschool their teen son (White) with the goal of showing him how excruciating life will be. Two pals (Scott and Knoxville) kidnap a leprechaun (Butler) who's reluctant to give them his gold. And a 1950s basketball coach (Howard) tries to convince his players that they're winners because they're black.

Others are dating scenarios: Winslet goes on a blind date with a guy (Jackman) who has testicles on his neck; Berry and Merchant play an increasingly deranged game of Truth or Dare in a Mexican restaurant; a pre-teen (Bennett) can't cope when his young date (Moretz) has her first period; Batman (Sudeikis) messes up Robin's (Long) attempt at speed-dating; Banks struggles to cope with her new boyfriend's (Duhamel) obsessive cartoon cat. There are also a few random advert spoofs, including one for the naked-woman shaped iBabe, which leads to trouble for the company CEO (Gere).

Cloudy With a Chance Of Meatballs 2 - or Cloudy 2: Revenge Of The Leftovers - is set to be released on September 27, 2013, and we have the first still to be released by Sony Pictures Animation. Of course, the movie is the sequel to the hugely successful 2009 movie set in a town where food falls from the sky like rain.

The new movie is being directed by Cody Cameron (Open Season 3) though is produced by the directors of the first movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The sequel will take off right where the first film left off, where a good making satellite goes out of control though its creator, young inventor Flint, manages to stop it.

New Anna Faris Role: Lead Role In Chuck Lorre Sitcom ‘Mom’

Anna Faris

The new Anna Faris role sees the Scary Movie star join the growing list of movie stars seeking small screen success, with a role in Chuck Lorre’s new series Mom. CBS are working on a pilot for the show, which will star Faris as a newly-sober mom, trying to pull her life into order. According to The Wrap, it’s set in Napa Valley, California, which is notorious for its wine production. Let’s face it, this  could prove to be something of a stumbling block for a newly-sober mom.

Mom is being executive-produced by Chuck Lorre, who has something of a Midas touch when it comes to sitcom; he’s been responsible for shows such as The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and Roseanne. He’s joined by Eddie Gorodetsky, with whom he has also worked on Two and a Half Men. They’re working on the script for the show, along with Gemma Baker (another Two and a Half Men colleague). Mom is being produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Anna Faris is best known for her roles in the Scary Movie horror-spoof franchise and most notably, has also appeared in Lost In Translation, Brokeback Mountain and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Mom could turn out to be her most significant TV work to date, after her 2004 role in Friends as Erica, the mother of the twins adopted by Monica and Chandler Bing.

Josh and Nat thought they had the most perfect relationship and made no hesitation in getting married despite their family and friends doubting their longevity. In their first year of being hitched, cracks begin to show and they don't feel as connected as they once were; while before they were very much emphatically in love, now they don't feel like they know each other at all. For one thing, they are polar opposites: Nat is a successful working woman, but Josh is struggling in his career as a novel writer. Before long, Josh's stunning ex-girlfriend Chloe floats into the picture flaunting her enviable figure, while at the same time a handsome new client, Guy, enters Nat's life tempting the newlyweds away from each other. As much as they try and convince themselves that they are happily married, they flounder against their friends' adulterous encouragements.

From the writer of 'Ali G Indahouse' and 'Bruno', Dan Mazer has taken up new project 'I Give It A Year' which he has also directed. It's a brilliantly funny British comedy with many nail bitingly awkward moments and one with a message to make us question true love and happiness.  It is set for release on February 8th 2013.

Movie 43 Trailer

If you were hoping for a romantic comedy with a harmless storyline, romance and inoffensive jokes, the here's a warning: read no further. 'Movie 43' is one of the most cringe-worthy and uncensored taboo-filled flicks to be released in the history of comedy. Here you will see several interlinked stories with characters' lives surrounding unusual proposals, interrupting blind kids' parties, bad parenting, teenage menstruation, a confused and slightly racist basketball coach, innovative business ideas and the kidnapping of a violent leprechaun. Once you see this movie it is unlikely you will find a subject that offends you ever again.

With twelve different comedy genius directors including Peter Farrelly ('Dumb & Dumber', 'There's Something About Mary', 'Shallow Hal'), Steve Carr ('Daddy Day Care', 'Dr Dolittle 2'), Steven Brill ('Little Nicky') and Brett Ratner ('Rush Hour') to name but a few and eight different writers, this jaw-droppingly crude and often obscene movie features a diverse star-studded cast, both British and American, who have banded together to shock you in the most hilarious ways you can think of. Whatever kind of comedy you're into, 'Movie 43' probably has something in it for everyone and it is set to hit the big screen on February 1st 2012.

Directed by : Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Rusty Cundieff, James Duffy, Griffin Dunne, Peter Farrelly, Patrik Forsberg, James Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Brett Ratner, Jonathan van Tulleken

The Dictator Review

Very Good
This may look like a wildly irreverent satire about a North African despot, but it doesn't take long to realise that the filmmakers' target is somewhere else.

And the biting script never pulls its punches, leaping us laughing at the audacity while making a serious point.

Aladeen (Baron Cohen) is the pampered dictator of Wadiya, who travels to New York to tell the UN to stop nosing around his nuclear "energy" plants. But his Uncle Tamir (Kingsley) is plotting to kill him and replace him with a double who will sign a democratic constitution essentially selling the country to oil companies. Aladeen manages to escape, but no one recognises him cleanly shaven, so he teams up with health-food activist Zoey (Faris) and a countryman (Mantzoukas) to get his country back.

Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Review

Good
It's impossible to be critical of a movie like this, since it's not trying to be anything other than ridiculous. And indeed it does manage to make us laugh, mainly because it's so relentlessly corny.

Dave (Lee) takes all six mischievous Chipmunks on a cruise-ship holiday before their big performance at the International Music Awards. Of course, Alvin (Long) is immediately in trouble, taking his pals Simon and Theodore (Bugler and McCartney) and the Chipettes (Poehler, Applegate and Faris) with him. But Alvin's next stunt strands them all on a deserted island, including Dave and former manager Ian (Cross). On the island they meet treasure-hunting nutcase castaway Zoe (Slate), just as a volcano is about to blow.

Scary Movie 3 Review

Good
There are lots of ways to churn out sequels, particularly comedies. You can speed along like a runaway train to capitalize on a surprise hit -- Miramax rushed Scary Movie 2 into theaters one year after the original's release -- or you can reset and go for broke. The latter approach seems to be the Scary Movie 3 motive, with new writers and veteran parody director David Zucker (Airplane!, The Naked Gun) joining the fray. For its efforts, Miramax gets a perfectly average movie, with fresh moments, lame retreads, and more opportunity for big box office.

Scary Movie 3 sticks with the program: mind-bogglingly dumb characters hustle their way through spoofs of the industry's most popular recent films. It's no mistake that the roasted movies -- in this case: Signs, The Ring, and 8 Mile -- all pull in huge money and attract a young audience.

The Hot Chick Review

Bad

Rob Schneider's new low-brow body-swap romp "The Hot Chick" is such an insipidly sexist so-called comedy that the movie's entire female cast is reduced to jumping up and down, giggling and playing patty-cake while rhyming about the ickiness of sex.

These characters don't have a brain cell to share among them, but Schneider (who plays an idiot too, but what else is new?) and director Tom Brady genuinely expect the audience to identify with these one-dimensional teenage airheads.

More specifically, they expect us to identify with catty queen ditz Jessica (Rachel McAdams), who, through a curse not worth explaining here, wakes up in the short, hairy, burlap-sack body of a scummy, gas-station-robbing low-life (Schneider) just a few days before the prom.

Scary Movie 2 Review

OK

Technically speaking, "Scary Movie 2" is a real mess. The editing is pathetic, mostly because the script -- if you can call it that -- is just a series of unrelated horror movie japes put in almost random order and tied together by about two minutes of plot.

Characters disappear completely from the story without explanation and blatant continuity errors abound because some gags where left on the cutting room floor while the follow-up jokes were kept. In one scene a character is lying in a pool of blood, then a second later the blood is gone. Then it's back, then it's gone again, then it's back again. No attempt whatsoever is made to cover up this sloppy, choppy, rushed-into-production total lack of cohesion.

But comedically speaking, "Scary Movie 2" is an almost constant laugh riot of extreme gross-out humor and surprisingly limber lampoonery -- and this is coming from a guy who didn't think much of the first "Scary Movie" and was pretty irritated when the Wayans brothers (director Keenen Ivory and stars Shawn and Marlon) broke their promise not to make a sequel.
