Noel Gallagher has made his feelings pretty clear regarding Apple’s new streaming service ‘Apple Music'. The former Oasis member has called Apple’s latest venture ‘arrogant’ and added that the service's radio feature was ‘some sort of George Orwell shit’

Noel Gallagher has not signed up for his Apple Music trial.

Speaking to the Varvet International podcast Gallagher said, “Apple Music, world radio: is that some sort of George Orwell shit going on? How can you be so arrogant that you can say, ‘We now fucking own world radio.’”

Following his close collaboration with Apple in the recent past, Dr. Dre has announced that he’ll be hosting a new radio show on Apple Music starting tonight (Saturday July 4th).

The 50 year old former N.W.A. rapper and producer will be hosting a regular fortnightly show called ‘The Pharmacy’, apparently focussing on west coast hip-hop. It goes out on Beats 1 at 6pm EST (or 10pm GMT), and will last for one hour, with DJ Pooh, Eddie Francis and Wyann Vaughn all joining Dre in the studio.

When Taylor Swift speaks even Apple takes notice. Yes, following an open letter from the singer to Apple over the weekend the company has announced it will be paying royalties to artists during the three-month trial period of its new streaming service, Apple Music.

Taylor Swift has taken on Apple and won.

Eddy Cue, a senior executive at Apple Music made the announcement on Twitter, writing ‘Apple will always make sure that artist are paid. #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period. We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.’

Taylor Swift has criticised Apple’s new streaming service ‘Apple Music’ in a lengthly open letter posted on the singer’s personal Tumblr page. In the letter Swift attacks Apple for its decision not to pay artists royalties during the three-month free trial of its new streaming service. It’s not the first time the singer has hit out against streaming companies as last year she famously pulled all of her music from Apple's rival Spotify.

Don’t expect to hear Taylor Swift’s 1989 on Apple Music anytime soon.

Swift begins the letter, titled ‘To Apple love Taylor’, by telling fans she wishes to explain why she’ll be holding back her million selling album, 1989, from Apple Music. “I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free three month trial to anyone who signs up for the service,” Swift begins.

Taylor Swift is set to give a big snub to Apple Music when it launches officially at the end of the month, with reports emerging that the singer will not be making her current album 1989 available to the new streaming service.

Swift became the most prominent advocate of the non-Spotify model of music distribution at the end of the last year, when she removed her entire back catalogue from the streaming site just before the release of 1989. It didn’t seem to harm her sales – it has sold in excess of five million copies to date, making it the biggest selling album of 2014 and 2015 (so far).

A Russian politician has accused U2 and Apple of distributing “gay propaganda” to minors and has called for the country’s attorney general to investigate them.

Alexander Starovoitov, a deputy representing the right-wing LDPR party in the Russian Duma (parliament), believes that Apple is guilty of spamming youths with illegal content when it gave away U2’s recent album Songs of Innocence for free back in September 2014 to all of iTunes’ 500 million worldwide users.

In a report by The Guardian, Starovoitov believes that the album’s artwork, which features the group’s drummer Larry Mullen Jr embracing his son Elvis while shirtless, promotes sexual relations between men.

U2 frontman Bono has issued an apology to iTunes users over the release of their recent album Songs of Innocence. Users of the software had a free copy of the new album automatically downloaded to their accounts as part of a marketing stunt in September that tied in with the release of Apple’s new iPhone.

The apology was prompted by a criticism from a Facebook user during a question and answer session. “Oops, I’m sorry about that,” said Bono. “I had this beautiful idea and we kind of got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard.”

Apple has launched a tool to help iTunes users remove U2's new album Songs of Innocence, which was made available as a free download following a product launch event in California on Tuesday (September 9).

The album was downloaded by 2 million users between Tuesday and Friday last week, though some Apple customers complained that the record was essentially being forced upon them and appeared in iTunes and iOS devices with no easy way to remove it.
