Aretha Franklin is planning to celebrate her 69th birthday by watching 'Driving Miss Daisy' on Broadway,Aretha Franklin, the 'Queen of Soul', turns 69-years-old today (25th March 2011) and she is planning to celebrate by attending the theatre before heading to an exclusive birthday bash, reports the New York Daily News.Franklin reportedly rang the Golden Theatre personally to buy tickets for herself and nine friends to attend one of her favourite plays. The soul legend is said to be a huge fan of James Earl Jones, who stars alongside Vanessa Redgrave in the latest production. Frankin celebrated her 66th birthday by watching Jones in Tennessee Williams' 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'. After the show, the singer will be attending a birthday party at the Central Park South Hotel, although details are being kept strictly under wraps. An insider revealed that 100 of Aretha's closest friends will be attending the exclusive bash. The Harlem soul-food restaurant 'Sylvia's' on Lenox Avenue are reportedly providing the birthday cake.
Aretha Franklin is currently preparing for her 'comeback concert', which is scheduled for the 19th May 2011 at the Chicago Theatre. The show will coincide with the release of her new studio album, titled 'Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love".
