Ariana Grande might have some “problems,” but none of them are music related. The 21 year old popstar dropped her single, ‘Problem,’ featuring Iggy Azalea back in April, and it was a surprise hit that shot to the top of the charts, and is currently sitting at number one on the Top 40. The release of ‘Problem’ was in preparation of promoting her upcoming album, announced as My Everything, which will be coming out on August 22. Less than a year since the release of her debut record, Yours Truly, does what we know about My Everything thus far lead us to believe that Grande’s got another success on her hands?

Frankly, yes. What may even be more impressive than the success of ‘Problem’ was that Grande’s camp had an even bigger single on deck to act as the lead this entire time. Written by hitmakers Max Martin and Savan Kotecha, her most recent single, ‘Break Free,’ features production handled by Zedd and is Grande’s venture into the ever booming EDM genre. It’s infectiously upbeat backed by soaring vocals, and while currently number 27 on the Top 40, it’s only going to rise from here. For those not completely feeling her departure from her usual sound: no worries – the album’s track listing, guest features, and writing credits make it all appear very diverse, and there’s a lot to be excited about.

As far as features go, Grande’s enlisted an all-star cast on My Everything, with spots that include Childish Gambino, Big Sean, Cashmere Cat, ASAP Ferg, and The Weeknd. Even cooler: a bonus track on the deluxe edition, ‘Bang Bang,’ is a collaborative effort with both Nicki Minaj and Jessie J. On the writing side of things, you’ve got the aforementioned Max Martin and Savan Kotecha combo on three of the 12 tracks, and even some production work from world renowned DJ David Guetta. Perhaps the most intriguing collab on the record goes to ‘Just A Little Bit of Your Heart,’ which boasts a writing credit from One Direction’s Harry Styles. What the song is going to sound like remains to be seen (or heard), but it’ll be interesting to see work from Styles that’s separate from the 1D name – and it may act as a good glimpse into what Styles may be up to when 1D is a thing in the past.

While we’ve still got a little over a month left until My Everything is available for our speakers, the album is beginning to look a lot more concise than last year’s Yours Truly already. It may have initially seemed like My Everything was rushed out to capitalize on Grande’s rising star status, but after ‘Problem,’ it wouldn’t be crazy to think that maybe Yours Truly was the one that was rushed, and that this record is coming at the perfect time. With ‘Break Free’ hitting harder on the airwaves each day, it’s clear that this album cycle will amount to anything but a one hit wonder.
