He continued his training in London and when the following contest came around in 1967, Arnold Schwarzenegger became the youngest winner of the Mr. Universe competition at the age of 20 and he would win the title three times after that. Schwarzenegger moved to the US in 1968 and in 1970 he won the Mr. Olympia competition in New York for the first of seven times.
Film Career: Schwarzenegger wanted to be a movie star from a young age. He even stated in various interviews that his entire career as a bodybuilder was entirely so that he would become noticed in order to get into films. He first on-screen role came in 1970's Hercules in New York. Due to his thick accent, the film was dubbed over before its release. His third film, 1976's Stay Hungry, earned him a Golden Globe for New Male Star of the Year. In 1977, his bodybuilding background helped him land the role in Pumping Iron - a film which subsequently reignited his film career. In 1982, Schwarzenegger achieved superstar status with his role in the film Conan the Barbarian. Two years later, he reprised his role and was also chosen to play The Terminator in James Cameron's film of the same name. His career was in full swing by this point, leading to starring roles in films like Commando (1985), Predator (1987), The Running Man (1987), Total Recall (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). Schwarzenegger continued his film career until 2003 when he reprised his role of The Terminator for the third time, before retiring from acting to pursue a career in politics. In 2010, he appeared in fellow 80s action icon Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables as a brief cameo, yet this expanding part in the subsequent films has spearheaded his return to acting. Outside of The Expendables, The Last Stand marked the first film in his return to the movie world after a seven year absence.
Personal life: Arnold Schwarzenegger married Maria Shriver - niece of John F. Kennedy - on the 26th of April, 1986 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The couple had four children, and in 1997, Schwarzenegger unknowingly fathered a son with his housekeeper. After revealing this information to his wife, the two divorced in 2011.
