Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love child remained a secret to him until the boy was “seven or eight” years old. The former governor of California revealed the details of the child that he fathered with his housekeeper, in his new autobiography and in an interview on 60 Minutes yesterday (September 31, 2012) that it wasn’t until the child “started looking like me, that's when I kind of got it. I put things together.” He insists that, up until that point, he was unaware that the housekeeper, Mildred Baena’s son was his.

When the truth finally became apparent regarding Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, he allowed Baena to continue working in the Schwarzenegger family household and when she separated from her husband, the actor started to quietly provide financial support to her, though his wife Maria Shriver remained unaware of his illegitimate child. “It was very difficult, strange, bizarre," the Terminator actor admitted. "I just said to myself, 'Okay, I'm going to put this away.'” Schwarzengger granted the interview to the CBS show in order to promote his new book Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, in which he admits lying to his wife of 25 years, until she confronted him the day after he left office as the governor of California.

Shriver later filed for divorce from Arnie and he also talked of the pain of telling the truth to their four children. “They cried,” he said. “It tears your heart out…If you would have asked me 10 years ago, five years ago, two years ago, what is the most important thing in my life, I would tell you over and over, it's my marriage, it's my family… That is something that I will always look back and say, 'How could you have done that?’”
