'The Expendables 3' cast still do their own stunts.

The action movie is filled with iconic stars of the screen including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Harrison Ford, and despite heading into their twilight years, the actors insist they are still more than capable of performing dangerous stunts when filming.

Dolph Lundgren - who plays Gunner Jensen in the movie - said: ''We really can do this stuff.''

The 57-year-old actor attributed their ability to pull off the risky scenes to their grounding in sport and fitness as youngsters, identifying the strengths of the many cast members in the movie series.

He explained: ''I was a karate champion. Jason [Statham] was an Olympic diver. Stallone has done a lot of training. Arnold, of course, was Mr. Universe. Terry Crews played pro football. We got the MMA champ, Randy Couture, not to mention the new people. We have a lot of people with real skills.''

The star - who rose to fame after appearing as Drago in the 1985 movie 'Rocky IV' - insisted it was important for the cast to do as much of the filming as possible in order to create a believable movie.

He added: ''When Terry picks up a hundred-pound Gatling gun with one hand, that's him doing it and I think that adds a certain reality to the whole experience.''

'The Expendables 3' is available on DVD now.
