When Can PS4 Owners Get Their Hands On Remastered Copy Of 'The Last Of Us'?

Troy Baker Ashley Johnson

The Last of Us proved to be a smash hit for the Playstation 3, winning over 200 game of the year awards and garnering a roundhouse of critical acclaim. It was, as many have put it, a once in a generation experience, but that experience can be… experienced by another generation, too. But when will PS4 owners get their hands on it?

The Last of UsThe Last of Us looks pretty good on PS3. The PS4 version will be mindblowing

The game was kind-of-accidentally announced as Sony’s US PlayStation network shop listed the PlayStation 4 version of The Last Of Us. And by now we know it exists anyway because Naughty Dog has officially unveiled it on their blog. We know the price will be somewhere around the $60 mark – like any new game – but we don’t know when it will be released.

PS4 Owners Will Be Able To Get An Enhanced 'Last Of Us' Experience

Troy Baker Ashley Johnson

The Last of Us proved to be the jewel in the PS3’s crown; a worthy send off for a console that provided one of gaming’s longest generations. And now that send-off is finding its way into the current generation as Naughty Dog confirm their hugely impressive post-apocalyptic drama is undergoing a transformation with a view to a re-mastered, PS4 version.

The Last of Us'The Last of Us' will be making the graphical jump to PS4

“We love setting challenging technical hurdles for us when working on each game – and this is no different. We’ve been working hard on The Last of Us Remastered to release a next-gen evolution worthy of the 200+ Game of the Year awards, not to mention the acclaim and expectations of our fans,’ wrote Arn Meyer on Naughty Dog’s US blog.

'The Last Of Us' Movie: Of Course This Is A Good Idea, Surely?

Troy Baker Ashley Johnson

The first thing people think about when a brilliant video game is mooted for a big screen adaption is: ‘is this a good idea?’ Well, games don’t get any more brilliant than The Last of Us, so the question is as pertinent as it’ll ever be. And judging on everything we know so far, we’d say it is a good idea.

First off, a little on how the game came about from Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper: “Screen Gems’ Brian Dukes and Eric Ling brought this game to my attention insisting we go after it, and when I saw the quality of the storytelling, I knew the audience for this project was far greater than just the gaming community and that Neil Druckmann must write the screenplay .I am thrilled that SCEA’s Riley Russell was able to get me in front of Neil and Evan Wells to plead my case. Sam and his team at Ghost House round out the perfect team to help realize Neil’s vision.”

Naughty Dog Give Us More 'The Last Of Us' With 'Left Behind' DLC - Critical Roundup

PS3 Ashley Johnson Troy Baker

Naughty Dog put time, care and attention into their work. The Last of Us was a forensically crafted, deep title with time spent on characterization never before seen in videogames. It was, by all accounts – including ours – a masterpiece. Now the journey is extended with Left Behind: the first and only piece of DLC for Joel and Ellie’s adventure.

Left Behind DLCRiley and Ellie in The Last of Us' Left Behind DLC out today: Feb 14

At the heart of The Last of Us’ charm lay a vested interest in extracurricular foraging. Using a shiv to open a door to an otherwise inaccessible room offered up great reward, and extra tidbits of story would be relayed in places off the beaten track. For IGN’s Colin Moriarty, this is one of the aspects that carried over well to Left Behind, which features Ellie’s story before she met Joel.

'Last Of Us Left Behind' DLC Trailer Is Spooky, 'Uncharted 4' Announced By Naughty Dog

Ashley Johnson

The long-awaited story-based downloadable content for The Last of Us finally has a trailer, giving us a – admittedly small – teaser. It’s been a big day for Naughty Dog; the popular developer has also announced a PS4 version of their flagship franchise, Uncharted. We don’t get to see much of Left Behind; what we do know is that it’s a prequel, and that Ellie and her friend Riley are a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone.

The Last of Us

The story takes place before Ellie (voiced by Ashley Johnson) meets Joel, but it’s unclear as to whether Riley will be a playable character. Released in 2014, the DLC marks the arrival of the new generation of console in the PS4 while reasserting the PS3’s relevance in the gaming market. The Last of Us was a phenomenal success for the PlayStation 3, hurtling towards the top of many game of the year lists within days of its release.

Ellen Page Isn't Chuffed About 'The Last Of Us' Likeness

Ellen Page Ashley Johnson

Canadian actress Ellen Page, known for her roles in Juno and Inception, took part in a recent Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' session whereby fans can ask their heroes questions.

Fan 'MozeoSLT' decided to question the actress regarding her first upcoming video game appearance in Beyond: Two Souls, as well as the significant likeness between her and survival horror action The Last of Us game character, 'Ellie':

"This has almost certainly been made clear to you several times, but are you aware how much you look like Ellie from "The Last of Us," a video game which came out about a week ago. She even sounds like you. So much so that almost everyone assumed it was you playing the role. Which leads me to my questions:How did you like playing the role of a video game character when doing "Beyond: Two Souls?" Do you prefer live action? Have you seen any footage of "The Last of Us" and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?"

What Women Want Review

Weak

You know how in testosterone-charged action movies an explosion will be shown over and over again in slow motion, and from four or five different angles? The ultimate sign of a guy movie, right?

Well, in "What Women Want" -- a romantic comedy starring Mel Gibson as a man who can hear women's thoughts -- director Nancy Meyers shows, on more than one occasion, Mel passionately kissing Helen Hunt in slow-mo and from four or five different angles.

Yes, what I'm saying is that "What Women Want" is very possibly the chickiest chick flick of all time.

Recess: School's Out Review

Weak

The bad guy in "Recess: School's Out" is a megalomaniacal ex-elementary school principal determined to do away with summer vacations by altering the orbit of the Moon so there's no more summer.

Voiced by James Woods -- one of Hollywood's greatest scenery-chewers -- this rakish, oily antagonist is by far the most amusing thing about this latest in a seemingly endless glut of cheaply animated TV 'toons cashing in on the purchase power of kids.

Such movies are not concerned with style, creativity or entertainment value for anyone of a discerning age. They don't even bother aspiring to be a "Toy Story," a "Pokemon") and rarely much more than just expanded episodes of the show that spawned them, blown up to 1.85:1 aspect ratio.
