Despite popular modern belief, Ashton Kutcher is actually aware that some of his movie are total garbage. Admittedly, it hasn’t stopped him continuing to make them, but at least he’s showing a degree of self-awareness. Even if that awareness has actually been heaped upon him by his friends, who aren’t afraid to tell Kutcher when he’s come up with another doozy.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, Kutcher explained “I know exactly what films I’ve done that f***ing suck donkey, and I know the ones that are good.” OK, he doesn’t mention Dude Where’s My Car, but he must realize that wasn’t considered a good movie by anyone anywhere, right? “I know it not because of the box office,” he continued, “because the box office is not going to tell you the truth - I know it because I have friends that don’t hold back. They don’t depend on me for money or employment. They’re just friends. Friends tell the truth.”

Ashton Kutcher, on the set of jOBS

We wonder what his friends are going to tell him about his forthcoming Steve Jobs biopic, jOBS, which already has the most irritating title in the world (who knew that just one lower case letter could be so irritating?) and is likely to divide opinion between those that care about the ACTUAL story and those that simply want to be entertained. Kutcher’s placing his faith in his mates to let him know either way. “you have to surround yourself with brutally honest people who will be like, ‘Dude, you suck at this. Stop.” Just a quick message to Kutcher’s mates here: we’re relying on you, ok? We’ve put our faith in you to do the right thing.
