Since Zach Sobiech was told he has a year to live, the young and talented singer has produced and released a song about his predicament, which has since been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube. He died on May 19th.

“Zach was at home and at peace with those he loved most. Zach’s life ended just as he lived, embraced by the love of his family, friends, grace and music,” the Children’s Cancer Research Fund announced on its website. “It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our son Zachary David Sobiech. Our family has been blessed not only by his amazing presence in our lives, but also by the love and support of our family and friends and by so many people in the community,” his family said in a statement.

Zach’s parents Rob and Laura, and brothers and sisters: Alli, Sam and Grace asked that all memorials be directed to the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund, helping fight cancer for years to come. “In particular we’d like to thank those people who listened with their hearts and helped Zach bring his message and his music to the world.”

Zach’s life and his actions since finding out his fate will undoubtedly act as a huge influence for both people in the same situation, and peoples’ attitudes towards the illnesses, not to mention the future of cancer charities.
