Aubrey Plaza has had a couple of weeks she'd probably rather forget, but it's business as normal for the actress who has signed on to voice boorish grumpy cat in Lifetime's TV movie Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Plaza - best known as Parks and Recreation's April Ludgate - will voice the pet-store cat that is perpetually overlooked. Real name Tardar Sauce, the real life cat became an internet sensation in 2012 and has already spawned a ton of endorsements and advertising deals.

The project has been written by The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie scribe Tim Hill and You Did What's Jeff Morris.

As well as Parks, Plaza has a couple of TV credits including NBC's Welcome to Sweden and The Legend of Korra. On the big-screen, she's known for indie flick Safety Not Guaranteed and Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

It was reported that Jane Lynch was offered the role of Grumpy Cat but passed on it after winning the Emmy for NBC's Hollywood Game Night. The Glee actress was set to receive a "rather significant paycheck" to voice the feline but rejected the offer after taking home the gold for her reality show on August 16. Only time will tell whether that turned out to be a shrewd decision.
