We Are Augustine's new single, 'Book of James', will be released on November 7th. It is taken from their anticipated debut album, 'Rise Ye Sunken Ships', which is expected to be released on March 5th 2012 through Oxcart Records. The band recently kicked off a series of UK dates supporting Glasvegas.
Brooklyn based We Are Augustines comprises Billy McCarthy (vocals; guitar); Eric Sanderson (bass) and Rob Allen (drums). Their debut album has already received early positive reviews. Much of Rise Ye Sunken Ships stems from the traumatic period when frontman Billy lost his mother and brother, James, both of whom were schizophrenic. Rise Ye Sunken Ships was produced with the help of Dave Newfield, who has worked with Broken Social Scene in the past.
According to Billy, 'Everybody deserves a proper eulogy; this is mine for my brother James. As far as I'm concerned our society at large would rather not think about the topic of homelessness and mental illness. Unfortunately, people who have lived through it are forced to find a place to store it internally. This song is written from that place.' Book of James has received support from DJs such as Zane Lowe; Mary Anne Hobbs and Lauren Laverne.
