We Are Augustines' new single Chapel Song will be released on February 27th via Oxcart Records. It is taken from their debut album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships, which will be released in the UK in March 2012. The band will be touring the UK and Europe throughout February 2012, supporting the Maccabees on certain dates.
The video for Chapel Song was directed by Matthew Mills and was shot on location outside The Gutter Bar & Bowling Alley in Brooklyn. As couples begin kissing each other, Billy and Eric walk slowly down the road, occasionally having to walk around a few of the couples as they do so.
We Are Augustines formed in 2010 and are based in Brooklyn. They comprise: Billy McCarthy (guitar); Eric Sanderson (bass) and Rob Allen (drums). Billy and Eric were in the band Pela, who formed in 2004 but disbanded in August 2009. Their debut album, Anytime Graffiti, was released in 2007 through Great Society and received critical acclaim.
Rise Ye Sunken Ships was released in the US in August 2011 and received positive reviews; it was recently awarded the Alternative Album of 2011 at iTunes. We Are Augustines' debut single, Book of James, was hugely successful in the UK.
