Austin Mahone And Selena Gomez Might Be "More Than Friends", But Definitely Aren't Dating

All five people who were holding their breath for this one can stop now – Austin Mahone is not dating Selena Gomez. The 17-year-old pop star said so himself for People on Wednesday, dispelling rampant dating rumors, which were definitely not started to boost anyone’s public profile. Not at all.

Theyre not dating, says Austin Mahone. Not even the tiniest bit. 

"We're just friends, Mahone told the magazine. "She's really cool. I mean, I think she's really pretty but every time I'm in L.A., she's like 'Hey you're in L.A., lets hang out."

As the story goes (reported by Us Weekly), it was Gomez’ gal pal Taylor Swift, who introduced the non-couple to each other. But despite enjoying each other’s company and being “more than friends”, Gomez and Mahone, who bears a strong resemblance to her ex Justin Bieber, are not dating. Before Mahone confirmed it himself, there were plenty anonymous sources saying the same thing to People and the New York Daily News.

Gomez recently told Seventeen magazine's March issue that she is still on the market – and her standards are pretty high. "I haven't found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it. It's hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I'm like, 'I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?' But I only know how to be me."

If Taylor Swift realy did play matchmaker, she wasn't very good at it.
