After weeks of suffering fatigue and other symptoms, the Complicated hitmaker was diagnosed with the debilitating bacterial disease last year (14) and recently told America's People magazine she was bedridden for five months.

During an interview on KIIS FM's Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O on Wednesday (08Apr15), Lavigne's husband, Nickelback star Kroeger, confessed he's relieved his wife's medical issues are now out in the open.

He said, "I'm like, 'OK, the wife has come out and said this and now I don't have to keep hiding... with everyone going, 'What's wrong with your wife...', and me just going, 'Ah, she's gonna be fine'. I'm like, 'OK, I can talk about this now'."

But the Canadian rocker admits he still has to choose his words carefully, because his wife has urged him not to talk about her health battle.

He added, "She said, 'Can you do me a favour? When you do all your interviews, can you not talk about it'... (But) things are looking up and definitely getting better."

Lavigne told People magazine she became a recluse in her Ontario home at the height of her health battle, revealing, "I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying... I had complete weakness and fatigue. One night I tried to brush my teeth on the tour bus and couldn't even stand.

"There were definitely times I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you."
