Reggae Star Blakk Rasta Has Been Summoned To Appear Before A Parliamentary Committee In His Native Ghana After Suggesting Most Of The Nation's Legislators Use Marijuana Recreationally.
Speaker Doe Adzaho issued an order for the musician, real name Abubakar Ahmed, to explain himself to lawmakers, claiming he has damaged the reputation of top politicians and dignitaries with the remarks he made in a recent radio interview.
Ahmed, 40, tells Reuters, "What I said was that about 80 per cent of parliamentarians all over the world may have used marijuana."
He claims the comment was not meant to offend, adding he simply wanted to show how harmless the drug is.
Blakk Rasta hit the headlines in 2009 when he dined with U.S. leader Barack Obama during the President's trip to Africa after releasing a tribute song about him.
