Barbera Knox rolled back the years and had somewhat of a Justin Bieber moment when she was arrested for drink driving on March 10, The BBC have reported. Knox, who plays the character of Rita Tanner on the ITV soap – and has done since 1972 – was in the car with her daughter, who was also charged. A spokesperson for Coronation Street declined to comment, but told The Independent: “This is a personal and private matter.”

Cheshire Police said: "Police stopped a car in Hollow Lane, Knutsford, and a 56-year-old woman from Gloucestershire was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.” The spokeswoman added: “An 80-year-old woman from Knutsford arrived at Knutsford police station and was also arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. She was bailed pending further inquiries."

According to The Sun, the ‘Corrie’ star furiously drove herself to the police station where she banged on a police station door yelling. “Do you know who I am?” A source told the newspaper: “She turned up at the police station knocking on the door and demanding her daughter be released. But the officers suspected she had driven to the station herself so they arrested her as well.”
