Two of the late star's offspring, Patty King and Karen Williams, are pressing for a police investigation over the guitar great's death on 14 May (15), amid speculation he was deliberately poisoned by his longtime manager LaVerne Toney, and his personal assistant, Myron Johnson.

The musician's lawyer has slammed the allegations, suggesting the two women are upset over the size of their inheritance, and now their brother, Willie, has weighed in on the controversy.

He says, "There are always - I don't want to call them this, but - there's always a rotten apple in the barrel. Sometimes you can take hurt, and turn it into something that it should not be. And I think out of the anger of losing their dad, they went to the extreme.

"I pray that the public don't really accept them as an angry person like that (sic), because being my sisters, they are not like that. But sometimes you just don't know how to express yourself. And you jump out at the nearest person (sic). And they attacked the wrong person."

Willie is the second of King's kids to speak out about the poison claims - his eldest daughter Shirley recently suggested both sides should get together to take lie detector tests to determine "who's in the right".

King passed away aged 89 at his home in Las Vegas after suffering a series of strokes. Cops are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before deciding whether to launch a probe into the poisoning allegations.

The music icon was laid to rest in his hometown of Indianola, Mississippi on Saturday (30May15).
