Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has thrown his support behind a U.K. campaign to ban wild animals in circuses.
The superstar, a passionate animal rights activist, is putting pressure on British government officials to enforce the ban, which would outlaw the use of tigers, lions, elephants and other exotic creatures in the circus.
He says, "I hate to see wild animals in circuses. It is heartbreaking to see these poor animals confined in small cages and carted around the country with little respect for their welfare and wellbeing. I believe an outright ban is long overdue."
