Ben Affleck is to join several other celebrities into committing to living on just $1.50 a day in aid of raising awareness for the Global Poverty Project.

The project apparently aims to 'increase the number and effectiveness of people taking action to see an end to extreme poverty’ and Affleck will be taking on the Live Below The Line challenge in the next week, according to Yahoo. Others joining him for the campaign include One Tree Hill actress Sophia Bush and the singer Josh Groban. The stars will be tweeting about their experiences during the week in order to highlight the plight that many Americans have to go through every day of their lives just to survive.

“Last year we had over 15,000 people participate, and raised over $3 million,” said Michael Trainer of the Global Poverty Project. “We're excited to leverage the support The Global Poverty Project has received from the campaign last year, and the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.” In addition to helping out the Global Poverty Project, Affleck will also be taking part on behalf of the Eastern Congo Initiative. The initiative was set up by Affleck himself and focuses on providing funding and aid to third world Congo in order to build a sustainable society. What a good bloke.
