Eastenders star Ben Hardy, best known as Ian Beale's son Peter, is in talks for an as-yet-undisclosed role in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, according to The Wrap. Representatives for 20th Century Fox or Hardy did not immediately respond though discussions are believed to be at an advanced stage.

Should he land the part, Hardy would join some of the world's biggest movie stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy. Oscar Isaac will play the film's titular villain while Rose Byrne will reprise her role as Moira MacTaggert.

Newcomers include Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexndra Shipp as Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.

Hardy, who recently had a major role in Eastenders' "who shot Lucy Beale?" storyline, was among the actors who tested for the Cyclops role though it ultimately went to Sheridan. He was also rumored to be up for the role of Angel, though insiders say he has been cast in another important part currently being kept under wraps.

His final scenes for Eastenders were screened in the UK on Tuesday (February 24) and Peter announced he was moving to New Zealand with his girlfriend Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) following the revelation that his step-brother Bobby had murdered his sister Lucy. 

X-Men: Apocalypse his theaters on May 27, 2016 and will be followed by Gambit, Wolverine and X-Force spin-off films. Kick-Ass 2 writer and director Jeff Wadlow has been hired to pen the latter.
