Ben Howard still wants to remain anonymous despite winning two BRIT Awards.

The singer-songwriter scooped the prizes for British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act at last week's ceremony and while a lot of people hadn't heard of him, he insists he's happy with that situation because he still wants to lead a normal life.

He said: ''I got told that 'Who the f**k is Ben Howard?' was trending on Twitter. I like the idea of it. I was never in music to make it to award shows.

''I sh*t myself when the paparazzi were taking photos. It was bizarre but the nice thing was most of the photographers were still like, 'Who is this guy?'.

''I hope the BRITs hasn't ruined anything. I may have shot myself in the foot. I have a platinum-selling record but I can walk around fine.''

Ben - who has sold over 30,000 copies of his debut album 'Every Kingdom' - also admits he hadn't prepared a speech for the ceremony because he didn't think he'd win.

He told The Sun newspaper: ''I didn't have a speech ready because I didn't think I had great odds of winning.

''The time I realised I'd won was when the camera came toward my table just before. I thought, 'Oh, I might have won here, sh*t, I've got to make a speech'.

''I forgot to thank anyone. I did the classic thing and just thanked my mum. It was lucky I got the second one because then I could thank people I was supposed to.''
