Cory! Topanga! Remember Boy Meets World? Well, the hit TV ‘90s TV series will be undergoing something of renaissance soon, as the Disney Channel are piloting a spin-off series, Girl Meets World. What’s more, TVLine have confirmed that both Ben Savage (who played Cory in the original series) and Danielle Fishel (who played Topanga) are both on board to play the parents of the central teen character.

Savage, now aged 32, confirmed on Monday that the series is “officially happening,” via his Twitter page and Fishel backed up the news via her Tumblr site, according to CNN. The original show ran for seven seasons, between 1993 and 2000. Fishel made a pact with fans of the original show, saying “I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make 'GMW' with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from 'BMW.'" She added that Girl Meets World “will have familiar faces, familiar themes and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes and new messages. 'BMW' never spoke down to the audience and we are going to do our best to never do that with 'GMW.' But please keep in mind that this will be episode one, of season one, of a brand new show.”

Girl Meets World sees Cory and Topanga as parents of 13 year-old Riley. The role of the teenage girl has yet to be cast. The pilot itself is still in the early stages of development.
