Now's the time most new fathers would be signing off work for a couple of weeks to get to grips with fatherhood, but Benedict Cumberbatch is getting his life back to normal already only a few days since the birth of his son.

To be, or not to be, back at work is the question for new father Benedict Cumberbatch, who has decided on the former and is back in rehearsals for his role as 'Hamlet' in the forthcoming new West End production which will run at London's Barbican Theatre from August to October 2015.

The 'Sherlock' star welcomed his first child into the world at the weekend just four months after his marriage to theatre director Sophie Hunter, with whom he announced his engagement in The Times in November 2014. The name of the baby has not yet been revealed - though we can assume it's going to be something super classy.

A spokesperson revealed only that they had a son and added that, 'We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks.'

Cumberbatch is really not letting anything distract him for his theatre work, not even landing himself a CBE from the Queen for services to the performing arts and to charity; a remarkable feat for someone who has only been acting for 15 years.

As well as 'Hamlet', he also has a ton of movies on the go. War drama 'The Yellow Birds' and Marvel movie 'Doctor Strange' are currently in pre-production, and he is filming 'Jungle Book: Origins' at the moment playing the evil Shere Khan. He's also been announced to star in Gary Oldman's biographical drama 'Flying Horse'.
