British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has no plans to sign on for an upcoming Dracula movie because he refuses to be tied into another Hollywood franchise.
Studio executives are hoping to capitalise on the success of the hit Twilight films by greenlighting a big screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula.
But Cumberbatch has no interest in sinking his teeth into another major movie series since he already has parts in two forthcoming blockbusters - J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel and The Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit.
He tells the Radio Times, "There's a script in the pipeline. I've been fighting it rather than being in it... I don't like to repeat myself too much. I think there are too many vampire franchises. I have become involved in another one - The Hobbit, playing the Dragon and the Necromancer, so that should keep me in fine wine... I plan on not getting involved in another one."
Cumberbatch is now on the hunt for a role that will showcase his full range of talents, adding, "I want to do something with an American accent, so you won't recognise me."
