The supercouple enjoyed a date night at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre, where they checked out the hip-hop musical about U.S. founding father Alexander Hamilton, but kept their attendance a secret until just before the curtain went up.
A representative tells Playbill.com Beyonce and Jay purchased tickets for the production and show bosses weren't aware they were coming until "very late".
The couple also requested to go backstage following the performance to meet the cast, including leading man Javier Munoz, the alternate for creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has missed the past few shows due to illness.
Beyonce and Jay, who happily posed for pictures with the rest of the cast, haven't been the only stars to stop by the record-breaking musical - Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Ben Stiller, Matthew MCConaughey, Cate Blanchett and Kerry Washington have been among the celebrities who have lined up to see the musical and meet the cast backstage since it opened to rave reviews in July (15).
