Superstar Beyonce has been giving back to her childhood community in Houston, Texas by donating $7 million (£4.12 million) over the years to help the homeless and feed the poor.

The Irreplaceable hitmaker and her family were regulars at the St. Johns Downtown church when she was growing up and Beyonce is known to return to the place of worship whenever she is in the city.

Her longtime pastor, Reverend Rudy Rasmus, reveals she has continued to keep the people of her hometown in her thoughts by making generous donations to his church to aid those less fortunate.

Reverend Rasmus, who presided over Beyonce's 2008 wedding to rapper Jay Z, says, "She has a global platform and is doing some amazing work and I'm glad she's a friend of mine...

"She's an incredible human being. Has an incredible heart and has been extremely helpful in our mission and our ministry here."

Beyonce is no stranger to charitable causes - the singer founded the BeyGood campaign to encourage fans to aid those in need, while she has also backed the female empowerment moves Chime for Change and Ban Bossy.
