Beyonce Has Won A Legal Battle Against A Singer Who Hit Her With A Plagiarism Lawsuit Over The Song Xo.
Vocalist Ahmad Javon Lane filed legal documents last year (14) claiming he had shared his track, called XOXO, with one of Beyonce's background vocalists - and the R&B star ripped it off.
He was seeking $3 million (£1.9 million) in damages, but a federal judge threw out the lawsuit on Thursday (22Oct15), according to TMZ.com.
In legal papers obtained by the website's editors, the judge ruled the songs were very different, both musically and thematically, pointing out that Lane's song features "explicitly sexual" lyrics, whereas Beyonce's XO, which was released on her self-titled 2013 solo album, is full of romantic metaphors and more mellow lyrics about love.
