Is this a cryptic comment from Beyonce? The Destiny’s Child singer has made no comment since she faced a barrage of abuse for apparently lip-syncing the national anthem at the Presidential Inauguration last week. On Saturday night, though, she posted a picture of herself on Instagram, wearing a sweater emblazoned with the words “Can I live?”

Was Beyonce asking, ‘will you let me get on with my life now?’ Or perhaps it was a play on whether or not she can sing live? It looks as though the photo was taken at a stadium, most likely the Mercedes-Benz Arena in New Orleans where her half time performance for this year’s Super Bowl will take place. Given that the singer hasn’t made any comment so far, we’re certain that she wanted to make some kind of statement over the drama surrounding her Super Bowl appearance, whether it was an implicit statement, or an ambiguous one. Having said that, she could just have been playing the loyal wife and helping promote her husband’s music, as Jay-Z has a song entitled ‘Can I Live?’

Anticipation is mounting over her Super Bowl performance now – not least because of the recent scandal. The Super Bowl entertainment is always a big deal, though usually the gossip / outrage (remember Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake?) comes after the performance, rather than before. Still, Beyonce’s never been one to do things by the book. It’s expected that she will be joined by her Destiny’s Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
