Beyoncé is following in the footsteps of pop superstar Michael Jackson by inking a deal with Pepsi.

New York Times have reported that Beyonce will earn $50 million in the lucrative marketing deal and judging by the accompanying photograph, they’ve also kindly given her a trolley full of their big popular brand of fizzy pop, too. It’s unclear whether she gets to keep the trolley.

We just hope for Beyoncé’s sake that Pepsi have learned from their mistakes and won’t be asking the ‘Crazy In Love’ singer to go crazy with fire. After all, that’s what they did with Jacko and he ended up singeing a massive chunk of his hair off, whilst he was filming a commercial for them. According to the report, the promotional venture between Pepsi and Beyoncé is planned to work both ways – she’ll be appearing in their ad campaigns and the beverage giant will also invest in her independent artistic ventures.

In a statement to New York Times, Beyoncé said “Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.” The launch of the campaign is expected to coincide with the launch of the singer’s next album, which is expected to be released some time in 2013. In the meantime, keep an eye out in shops for a limited edition version of the Pepsi can with her image on.
