Futuristic fashion flooded the floor at this year's Costume Gala.
This year's Met Gala hosted probably one of the best themes its ever seen, with celebrities entering in their droves decked head to toe in futuristic fashion; metallics, latex and dark lipstick galore. Some of the best dressed included Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively.
Zendaya dons a bowl-cut wig at the 2016 Met Gala
The 2016 Costume Institute Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art featured an interesting fashion theme: 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology'. It was a chance to really get to grips with one's inner sci-fi fox, though many stars were disappointingly minimal with their costume execution.
Rachel McAdams glittered in gold
Most celebrities, however, made the New York venue glitter brighter than Liz Taylor's jewellery box. Rachel McAdams paired her gold Valentino ensemble with a dark lip, while Zendaya swapped her dreads for a 60s style bob wig to go with her one-sleeve Michael Kors number.
Taylor Swift went for a daring style shift
Silver was a favourite at this year's gala though; Kim Kardashian was adorned in sequins as Kanye West went for a matching jacket teamed with ripped jeans, and Taylor Swift showed off her midriff in a short frock with very strappy sandals. Also stunning in silver were Cindy Crawford, Rita Ora, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner.
Blake Lively once again oozed ethereal beauty
One woman who always gets it right no matter what the event is Blake Lively, and she certainly didn't disappoint here. She was a vision of elegance in a billowing Burberry gown that skimmed over her baby bump. She didn't go for the popular metallic ensemble, and instead opted for a pale pink floral look.
FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson were one awesomely dressed couple
Kim and Kanye weren't the only hot couple on the red carpet either. FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson were also there, Twigs in a simple nude dress and corset style vest with space-queen head adornment, and Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik embraced the theme with the former One Direction singer donning armour over his tux sleeves.

Meanwhile, Emma Watson and Margot Robbie went monochrome, while Lupita Nyong'o showed off incredible Dr. Seuss-esque hair which could have been comical had her metallic green Calvin Klein gown not made her look like a Nairobi goddess.
Lupita Nyong'o, Margot Robbie and Emma Watson had different but equally stunning looks
Other standard out looks were, of course, Madonna's jewellery-heavy, black lace ensemble; Jared Leto's white tailcoat and walking cane; and Beyonce's nude latex that showed off all her infamous curves.
