Beyoncé's Secret Album Breaks Records: Last week's biggest story was Beyoncé's unexpected and sudden album release, where she dropped Beyoncé with minimal farefare. Nevertheless, Queen Bey's fans were sent into a buying frenzy, pushing the singer to the top of the Billboard and iTunes charts and securing a fifth number one for the R&B megastar.

Ian Watkins Sent Down: Former Lostprophets singer and "committed" paedophile Ian Watkins has been jailed for 35 years at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday for a string of child sex offences. The judge said Watkins took "evident delight" in abusing children after the rocker pleaded guilty last month to 13 offences. Read about the full sentencing here.

To make matters worse, Ian "H" Watkins from Steps has been dragged into the reportage once again since E!Online were forced to apologise for linking the pop star to the paedophile. H furiously tweeted a screenshot of Google News matching a story of the Lostprophets singer with his face, saying "SORT THIS OUT CBSNews google !!!! I am very upset ... Again !!!"

 

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

The Hobbit Hops In At No.1: Last Friday brought the highly anticipated release of Peter Jackson's second installation of The Hobbit which has rocketed to the top position in worldwide box offices. The film, which stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, is currently number one on both sides of the Atlantic, and grossing $226,398,253 (£138,520,639) worldwide to date. Check out the trailer here. Seth Macfarlane Reveals Family Guy Ruse: Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has lifted the lid on the animated comedy's headline-making plot move. The show killed of the Griffin's pet dog, Brian, in an episode last month but have quickly brought him back in an episode broadcast last weekend. Fans' confusion was met with some pretty insensitive and jeering tweets from Macfarlane: "you didn't really think we'd kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we'd have to be f*cking high," the comedian wrote. Find out how and why Brian came back.

Paul Rudd Prepares For Ant-Man Transformation: The week has brought a couple of nuggets of exciting action movie news (See: Joaquin Phoenix as Lex Luthor) but our favourite has to be the news that Anchorman star Paul Rudd will take the lead role of Ant-Man in a 2015 movie of the same name. He'll play a scientist who discovers a way to shrink himself so he can solve mysteries.

Daft Punk Announce First Show In Years: French electronic duo Daft Punk have become the first artists confirmed to play at the Grammy Awards next January. The show will be the pair's first televised performance since 2008 and is expected to be as elaborate and show-stopping as their collaboration with Kanye West. Daft Punk are also up for a slew of awards after Random Access Memories garnered impressive critical praise and sales this year. There'll be some other acts announced but it's pretty safe to say it's obvious who the 2014 Grammys will belong to.

Khloe Kardashian Files For Divorce: Khloe Kardashian has made the decision to permanently split from her husband, NBA star Lamar Odom, despite reportedly undergoing marriage counselling. Problems arose between the pair due to Odom's alleged heavy drug use during his seasonal down-time. The pair split in the summer and now it looks like they're staying apart after Khloe filed the legal papers asking for "Odom" to be dropped from her name. The reality star follows in the steps of her sister Kim who has also divorced, as well as her mother who is said to be divorcing Bruce Jenner.

Real-life lovers John Mayer and Katy Perry have released the music video for their lovesick duet, 'Who You Love.' The video shows the smitten two canoodling in artful shots amidst scenes of them riding a mechanical bull in slow motion. The song's not terrible either. Check it out here.
