The Cosby Show star is facing mounting pressure to defend himself after more than 30 women came forward with decades-old allegations of inappropriate behaviour in the last 10 months, with some also accusing the veteran of drugging and raping them.

His attorneys previously denied all the claims, but the funnyman has come under renewed scrutiny this month (Jul15), after details from Cosby's 10-year-old testimony, relating to the sex assault lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand in 2005, was made public.

Excerpts from his deposition in the case were published over the weekend (18-19Jul15), and although the legal spat was settled out of court in 2006, the evidence, in which Cosby confesses to obtaining multiple prescriptions for Quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with, has since further tarnished his reputation in the media.

On Wednesday (22Jul15), his new lawyer, Monique Pressley, appeared on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America to vigorously defend her client, stating, "There are a thousand-plus pages (from the deposition) that are available of Mr. Cosby in his own words, and what we're seeing so far are headlines that are grabbing one excerpt or two and misinterpreting them.

"The deposition said that there was use of Quaaludes, which was done often in the '70s. It was considered a party drug called 'disco biscuits' and it was something that was done frequently, not just by Mr. Cosby but other entertainers."

Pressley went on to question the validity of the allegations piling up against Cosby, adding, "Mr. Cosby has denied the accusations that have been lodged thus far. The sheer volume or number of people who are saying a particular thing does not make it true."

She continued, "You'll have some people who will come forward and join the bandwagon. If you know the police department messed up in a certain park on a certain day, you'll have 30 people who'll come forward to cash in who weren't even there, who were at lunch across the street, who were looking from the window.

"(So) just because people come forward and say, 'Thirty years ago he (Cosby) put something in my cup,' doesn't mean he did it."

Cosby has never been charged with any crime relating to the numerous allegations.
